I will be making dining reservations for five of us. I am in one room with a resort reservation number and my son and his family are in another room with their own reservation number (even though I booked both rooms).

The last time I made ADRs, I had to put in the resort reservation number. Will I be asked to put in both numbers for one reservation? Or do I just use my number and make the reservation for five?

I don’t think you need to enter a reservation number if you log into your MDE account first and the resort reservation is linked to it. Your having that resort reservation opens the booking window for you, then you just book for a party of five. It’s optional for you to link the ADR to the other members of your party - if you do, it will show in their MDE too, but it’s not required.

I’m staying off site so I don’t have reservation numbers & I made ADR’s for the trip. Just enter the # of guests. The system doesn’t care who the guests are. I made all of ours for 3 even though it’s just my DD and me on the trip. She’s local and worked theme park entertainment for a long time. Many of her friends still do and are likely to pop in for the day. I never know who or when so I always reserve for an extra person just in case!
