ADR System Upgrade - History

1-3 minutes? Wow! I've been on hold for about 30-40 minutes the past few days. What time are you calling? I've been doing the 7am thing, but maybe I'll try another time tomorrow.
We had trouble w/ Sci-Fi as well,so we switched to 50's Prime Time.

I usually call btw 10:30 am to 11:30 am PST. Im in Calif.

I just got off the phone to do another ressie. The hold time was less than 2 minutes. Good luck.

As much as I am looking forward to the dining system being available online I think I would rather wait until all the bugs have been worked out. Hopefully that will not take much longer

so when we call now making new reservations in the new system will the CM be able to see our resort reservation too?

I have a "tip" for the new ADR system.

I called today to change one of my ADRs. The CM said, if you already have an ADR, give me the reservation number. It's easier (faster) to modify an ADR than to start from scratch. She also said there's a lot more pixie dust around when you modify. And she was right! Funny how she KNEW this was going to happen!

She explained that when she checked for availability at the restaurant I wanted, it was showing it was booked. BUT when she entered the system thru my existing ADR to MODIFY it with the new restaurant request, it showed availability! She said I told you you'd be sprinkled with pixie dust this way!

So now this new ADR system can modify ADRs. When you want to replace or change something, say you want to MODIFY an ADR.

The system also deletes all canceled ADRs now. It no longer saves every ADR you ever made Which I'm happy about!

yes, once you give your reservation no. Today, she knew exactly where i was staying and for how long.

It is not yet available. They take phone reservations only.

Can someone just clarify for me...tomorrow (3/26) is my 90 days. What time do the reservation lines open to make ADR's? Is there a strategy to booking? Like should I book certain restaurants first? Here is what we are trying to get:

6/25 Spirit of Aloha 8pm show
6/26 Donald's Safari Breakfast
6/27 Coarl Reef
6/28 Jikos
6/29 Sci Fi

Based on reports Sci Fi appears difficult to get, so I may go for that one first...especially because we've never been there and I think my boys would love it! Any thoughts?? Thanks

Yes definitely go for Sci Fi first, we did this with CRT, we planned on trying for CRT on the last day and it was the 2nd adr we tried for. The first was Chef Mickeys for the night we get there just because it has become a tradition and with DD graduating High School this year it is kinda like the end of a chapter and next year with her at college we will be too broke to go there. But yea try for Sci-Fi first and let me say this came from a suggestion on these boards that I tried and it worked! Also the lines open up at 7:00 am eastern time so we started calling a 6:59 am eastern time which was like 5:59 our time. Good Luck and here is some pixie dust Let us know how it goes.

Good Luck with Sci Fi ! I hope you can get it since you've never been there, your boys will love it! I still can't believe i cannot get it for lunch or dinner from 6-14 to 6-28. It is becoming more popular than LeCellier, which i had NO problem getting!

Well, I am going on 40 minutes on hold to make my ADR's this am. I was hoping to do this before my kids wake up because they don't know we are going yet...time is a tickin'!!

I got through after about 45 minutes...we got everything we wanted but had to change the days a little and be flexible on the times. I did get Sci Fi for June 29th, but my only choices were 4pm or 7:50pm so we went with the 4pm so we can make it to F! that night. We had to switch our night for the SOA and even at that they only had Cat. 3, but we got it at least.

When my 90-day ADR window opens for the POR portion, can I only make ADRs for those dates, or will the window extend into the dates associated with the second reservation? If it doesn't extend into the second reservation, I essentially have two 90-day ADR windows, correct?

yup, that's what people have been reporting...that they have to call back for the 2nd window. You can always ask when you're on the first window call-

I'm not sure whether if you have your reservations properly linked if it will extend the window for you...no one that I have seen has mentioned if their reservations are linked or not.

I don't think they can link them -- one's a "regular" reservation and one's DVC. I even have to book Magical Express separately.

Some people have reported being able to make the reservations for a split stay, but they keep asking or call back.

Maybe someone who's smarter than I can better answer that question, but I think that depends on how long your total vacation is. I believe that you are entitled to invoke the 90 plus 10 rule regardless of the actual length of your stay, whether it is 1 day or 10 days. Therefore, if you are doing a split stay for a total of 10 days or fewer, it may not make a difference. Once you are 90 days away from your first day, your 90 + 10 window would open up for the following 10 days even if you are staying only 1 night.

Now if you are staying more than 10 days, that may be different.
