ADR System Upgrade - History

When the ADR window was at 90 days a few years ago there was no dining plan. The dining plans have changed the dynamics of everything (NOT for the better, I must say) so now 90 days is NOT enough time.

We lost money on the plan last year, so we're not getting a plan this year. BUT my ADRs are still important to me. And you know what? I am a rigid, high-strung kind of girl. I want specific restaurants, on specific days, at specific times. With the 180 window I got them. All of them. Exactly the way I wanted them. Because there were still slackers who hadn't even booked a trip at 6 months out. By 90 days out people pretty much know they are going to WDW, so now everybody is calling. I am sure the call volumes are insane.

With DVC we book our hotel at 11 months out to make sure we get the room we want. I would be FINE with making my ADRs at 11 months! I don't care what the park hours are, I don't care about EMH, I want to book my dining. The new system has been an absolute nightmare so far. Hold times upwards of an HOUR?! And now they are going to go ahead and roll out the online component while the rest of it still has so many issues? Perfect.

When I made my ADR's today, the CM I worked with said that ADR's were going to be available to be made online next month, or possibly in May. I know there has been a lot of talk about this on the boards, and I actually didn't even ask about it, she just mentioned it in our conversation. Should be interesting to see how that will work. I wonder how they will enforce the 90 day out rule with online ADR's? Curious to see if they stick to the 7 am rule or will you be able to book them at 12:01 of the morning you are 90 days out? Should be interesting....

I was just wondering when this would be working. I was on the official site looking at the restaurant info. and noticed that it said for ADRs click here or call.
When you click the link right now it currently says please call.
I also was looking up my reservation info. I accidently clicked the online check in button and got a message that you had to be within 10 days of reservation or something like that to use online check in. So I would think it would be easy to do the same for dining if the online ADR's will only be for resort guest and you have to put in your confirmation number before making the ADRs.

It will be interesting to see how it all works.

Just a quick note. I have been calling daily to get my ADR's for 7 people (Staying offsite) and have been quite successful except for the SCI FI Restaurant. Hold times have been averaging 1-3 minutes. I was also told the online ADR system will beup very soon and that any attempts at double booking will result in loosing all ADR's.

I had read that the ADR's will be available to book online and the date mentioned was March 22nd. Does anyone know if this has actually happened yet? I couldn't find anything on Disney's site

Oh, sounds good! I'm nervous to book online, but I think I will try it. Hopefully all the bugs will be worked out before July when I can book.

When I made our ADR's about 2 weeks ago I asked the cast member about this. She said that currently the 'plan' as she's been told is that eventually they will make SOME dining reservation options available online but as of yet there is no target date for this to start.

Someone posted they found the link for making adrs online even though it doesn't work. Can someone direct me to where this is on the Disney site. I don't see it at all. I can find online check in, but not the adr link. I know it doesn't work yet either.

1-3 minutes? Wow! I've been on hold for about 30-40 minutes the past few days. What time are you calling? I've been doing the 7am thing, but maybe I'll try another time tomorrow.
We had trouble w/ Sci-Fi as well,so we switched to 50's Prime Time.

This is not up and running yet. Disney has still not released a date for when it will happen. It seems to keep getting pushed back.

whats going on at sci fi; i have the last two weeks of june, either lunch or dinner and sold out entire time that i could call for! its the first time since 1989, we cannot eat there!
