ADR System Upgrade - History

I'd say that they should, at least initially, extend the benefit of only ADRs to those who have booked packages with Disney and already paid in full as well as to DVC members. It would have to be tied to your reservation so that you couldn't just make-up extra accounts and abuse the system.

The new dine system makes you put in a Disney Resort Reservation confirmation number and I bet the online system will do the same so that those not staying on property will not be able to book until there "time" :)

Just an FYI...in the new system if you need to change your reservation in any way it is much easier to do and your reservation number stays the same BUT there is absolutley NO WAY to change the name on the reservation since it is now a part of you resort reservation.

Happy booking!!!

Did I miss the launch of this?!?! I just got off the phone with Disney and the CM told me that I could now make all my dining reservations online. She even gave me the web address... she said it was disneyworld.com and then a la carte with spaces between each word. I tried it immediately but just got the regular Disney site.

Does anyone know more about this? She sure sounded positive about the information she was giving me. Am I missing something?!?!?!

Sorry that you got a clueless CM....online booking has not even launched yet! It is supposed to be available the 2nd week on March but then again A La Carte was supposed to be available in January!!!

:)

SO does anyone know the website for online dining reservations?

Thanks!

Yep! www.disney.go.com and you have to sign up for my disney vacation and I believe it will eventually be there because if you go on there now that is where the online check in service is. It's there but not working yet!

Sorry I didn't explain the 180 day window for CM, CRT or V&A clearly. Everyone here explained it much better than I did. We're going 5/19-5/28/09 and I was able to book CM and CRT before the 90 day mark since we will be there before the 6/19/09 change over.

On a side note, remember if you are staying on property you can book 90 days before your 1st day of your trip and then the next 10 days so you can effectively book 100 days out if you're at a Disney resort. I suspect many places like CRT will fill up with Disney property guests before others have a chance during peak travel times. Not sure if they will change that down the line.

Sorry.... but I have a question. I just started reading up on this ADR change. My trip starts on September 10th. That would put my 180 day mark on March 14th. Does that mean I can make a Chef Mickey reservation on March 14th since CM still goes by the 180 day rule?

No, unfortunately it doesn't mean that you'll be able to make your CM reservation early.

What it means is that reservations are available right now for Chef Mickey up through June 19, 2009. That's a fixed date, and once we're 90 days away from June 19. 2009, Chef Mickey's will be 90 days like everything else (along with CRT and Victoria & Albert's).

So Chef Mickey's isn't really available at '180 days' right now, it's more like 110 days right now. :goodvibes

Hope this helps!

Nothing is 180 days anymore.

They are taking ADRs for CM, CRT, and V&A's through June 19th.

Since you are going in September, everything will be 90 days.

Will online ADR's for those with DVC reservations be booked through the same site or will we need to access it from the DVC member website?

Are you guys posititve about Chef Mickey and Victoria going to 90 days?
I was told by the CM that those 2 would remain at the 180 even after all the change overs occur. :confused3
Because of the popularity of CM and the cost and experience of V & A.

I just wish they would get it straightened out soon.
We aren't considering V & A, but plan on CM... just waiting for the hours for July to come out.

I am absolutely positive about them changing, a few people were kind enough to forward the communication to CM's from Disney's HUB (their intranet) about this and it was very clear.

The reason that these are at June 19 right now is because of how they arranged things prior to the 90 day change. They (Disney) had the dates for these three entered into the computer up until June 19 prior to changing things to 90 days. To honor reservations up through that time that were already made they just left it 'as is' and are dealing with the confusion until the end of the month.

If those three were going to be 180 days, they'd be reserving up through September right now.

so was I, by 2 different CM's. Actually they told me that 3 would stay on 180, CRT, CM and V&A

I had asked about Hoop De Doo revue because last trip we did the reservations were almost a year in advance. when we booked our Dec trip in jan, we also booked HDDR at the same time. apparently HDDR will now fall under 90 day booking

It says on the 1st post that all DRS will be retired MAy 26, my call date is May 25th, what does this mean, will I have the option of online and phone in for making my ADR's?

So it seems like since my ADR window opens March 21, I will probably/maybe be among those who use the new on-line reservation system?

Does tis mean that for September I can't call for ressies ,I hope not I prefer to talk to someone !!!

Does anyone have the link to the new on-line dining system????

Quote:
A new reservation system, a la carte
(application for celebrations, activities,
recreation, tables & events) will be phased
in to replace the Dining Reservation
System (DRS) currently used. Delivered
by Information Technology, it will allow
Cast Members, Guests and travel agents
to make dining reservations online.
It also allows Cast to learn about the
Guests’ full experience at the Walt Disney
World Resort, including room and dining
packages.

A la carte will interface with other
booking systems to help reservation
agents find opportunities that match a
Guest’s preferences. For example, it will
show if a Guest has booked a resort stay
with the dining plan. The application
then makes appropriate recommendations
for dining and events. A la carte will
automatically check multiple dining
locations based on information from the
Guest and the resort reservation. Guests
will not have to repeat their personal
information for each booking because
a la carte can store multiple events in a
“shopping cart” and book them all at once.

Earlier this month, booking began in
a la carte for all dates on or after May 26.
Events before that date continue to be
made in DRS. On May 26, DRS will
be retired.
