Yes, talk about stress testing the system! Like putting a brand new till system in a retail store the week before Christmas.

I'm not sure exactly why they are limiting the current system at present. Could be either to reduce the amount of data that will have to be copied from the live system to the new platform on change-over day, or to leave them a empty window which the new system can then use in parallel to the old one when it does open.

Whichever, I wouldn't like to be providing support the day it goes live!

Just made my ressie for CRT on 6/8 and was chatting with the CM afterwards. She said they were told that it would now likely be mid January
(ETA - sorry, just saw that Traci posted the same thing - sorry for the repeat!)

I think the theory of opening up another month to get through the Easter peak is the most likely scenario - even the CM was concerned about the backlog of dates if it went on much longer - Easter, Spring Break, and now, they're about a week away from Summer peak starting, too.

What a mess. I really thought if ANYONE was going to be able to mastermind such a huge project with minimal delays, it would be Disney. Just goes to show, I guess, that project management is the same everywhere! (spoken as a former engineer who's very familiar with project delays.....)

From what Disney Dine said they'll be running both systems concurrently until the old data flushes out. No transfers, but a pain to have two systems and the idea behind your post is the same - minimize the amount of time that they're managing all that data.

Disney BF came home yesterday and said "GUESS WHAT" i was sitting there on the dis and looked up and said what??? he said i just booked us for Jan 7th - Jan 11th at key west for a break. So i replied "GUESS WHAT", and he looked puzzled "i said i still cant make my ADRS yet for disney, so until then im not gonna be excited about anything"!!!!! So by this point he was a little aggrivated, but what really set him over the top was when i said "If i have not made my reservations by them im not going, because what if they open it up while im gone and i miss every single one of my ADR's" Now hes really peed!!! i think ill wait a week untill i tell him i was joking

I just called Disney Dining to make my May 2009 reservations for Chef Mickey's and Cinderella's Royal Table. After they were all put into place, the guy on the phone actually said this to me:

"...and don't wait until Dec. 22nd to call back to make your other reservations, if that's what you've been told...try calling back at least once a week because it may change"

Funny thing is that I NEVER mentioned anything to him about the December 22nd date. I only cut him off before he could finish his spiel about "normally we could make your 180 day reservation but right now with system..." and I stopped him to say "I only want Chef Mickey's and Cinderella's Royal Table right now" and he replied "Oh, so you know all about that then".

He was a very nice older man.

Good point! I'm having this re-curring nightmare of being on vacation in April and setting my alarm to go off at 6:55am every morning so that I can call the dining line and make my reservations for that day!

Worse yet - still no ADR's, you'll just need to storm the restaurant as the park opens each morning.

Your 180 day window has already passed. You can book CRT, Chef Mickey's, V&A if you want. So get going! June reservations are now hitting their 180 day window in December. Good luck! Unfortunately, we can't book any other locations until they open up the system.
