ADR System Upgrade - History

I sent my list of ADR requests to my TA since we will be leaving for our Christmas trip this Saturday and we won't be back for 3 weeks. My TA wrote in her email that she was told that ADRs won't open up until mid January although that was subject to change. Oh well can't worry about something we can't fix. She promised that she would be on top of things for me whenever it happens. I just hope she can get CRT and Chef Mickeys for us on 12/18.

I just called this morning for these two - no problem getting the ressies! In fact, I wanted CRT for lunch, but she accidentally said the 8:05 breakfast was available. Here I am a novice and was completely frightened about getting into CRT!

Good luck getting what you want.

Oh - the CM told me they're not sure when they'll get the new system up and running, but that I could start calling in on the 10th or 15th to see if it's up and running yet. Kind of a gap of days to start, eh? :lmao:

Ok, so our 180 day mark is today and my MIL called to get Chef Mickey's, but they said we still have two days to wait (we aren't eating there on the first day). I thought that if you were staying on property you could make 180+10? Is this not the case anymore with the whole upgrade or should I try calling back? Thanks
Lori

What is your day of arrival? Because yes they are still allowing 180+10 for resort guests.

Okay guys and gals, I emailed Disney again to see if I got a different response this time. This is the email I received. Makes me wonder if the 22nd REALLY is the correct date. Seems like if it weren't, they'd quit sending out emails that say the 22nd. But, who knows? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Here's their response with a copy of my email to them being at the bottom:

Dear Lisa,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

Theme park operating schedules for the period of your upcoming visit
have not yet been determined or released. Operating hours are usually
available up to 180 days in advance. We encourage you to visit the
following address on our Web site, closer to your actual arrival, to
obtain updated operating hours information.

Due to system enhancements we are only able to book any dine
reservations from now through March 22, 2009. We will have our full 180
day availability beginning December 22, 2008. The exceptions are Chef
Mickey's, Cinderella's Royal Table, and Victoria and Albert's, these
locations will continue to book 180 days out.

Although it is not currently possible for dining arrangements to be made
online, guests are welcome to call 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463), to book
reservations for most of our dining experiences.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if
applicable on all correspondence.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Charlotte *****

Good afternoon,

We are currently booked for a stay at Pop Century for 5/28/09 to 6/6/09.
We will be celebrating our son's 12th birthday (missing it by just 4
days) and our 25th wedding anniversary (happens while we are there)!

But, I am finding it hard to plan our dinner reservations and our
itinerary because the May and June hours aren't posted yet. Do you have
any idea when they will be released?

Thanks in advance and have a fantastic holiday, Lisa

Lisa

That for posting the e-mail. However, it looks like they are just sending a generic e-mail at this point with the 22nd as the target date. But of course it contains the all info is subject to change wording...So who knows.:confused3 Some are saying Dec and some Jan. So far the e-mails all say 12/22 so all we can do is keep our fingers crossed I guess.:wizard:

I would really like to get all my ADR's booked before year end.

I, too, figure it's a generic email but I thought I'd post their response anyway. Maybe, just maybe, the 22nd is the correct date. I really wanted to get the ADRs made and out of my mind so I can concentrate on other things.

I am doubtful, still, that the 22nd is the right date. None of the CM's have even been trained on the system yet, nor do they have any training scheduled.

I sure HOPE they don't launch the system without training their CM's on how to work it. :scared1:

The 22nd is 13 days away and I would think that if there was going to be training between now and then it'd at least be scheduled.

Well maybe if we are luck they will have this system up and running by March 22 so we can make ressies for the 23rd and later. Joking in part. I know that doing a big system upgrade is not an easy process but how wrong were they. I was suppose to be up the end of Oct. Now looks at least 2 months behind. Hopefully they would stagger things as they have done. While I'm still totally excited about our first trip, reading the board about all the cutbacks, poor housekeeping at some hotels, decline in quality of restaurants, NO PP&P parties and this annoying ADR situation has taken some of the warm and fuzzy about Disney away. Just hope those of us already within the 180 day window who have been waiting and waiting to make these ADRs don't get left not being able to get the ressies we wanted.

Thanks! Yeah my 180 widow is 12/18. Hopefully we'll be able to get in or my little one will be disappointed! We have two days she can book it so I'm going to think positively. We'll be out of country on a christmas vacation on 12/18 so that is why I need to have her do my ADR's. Otherwise I would just do them myself. I'm too much of a control freak! I think I a 12 step program for WDW planning!
:rotfl2:

I was able to call today and get Chef Mickeys for June 7 and it was no trouble at all for the time I wanted! Now I am just waiting like you all to be able to call for the others!:rolleyes1

Dec 22nd could be possible. I bet WDW is just waiting on the actual system to be ready to use. Training may only take a week or so. :thumbsup2

being 2months behind with an endeavor this large isn't really unusual. Projects are usually planned with everything moving at a certain pace. If anything comes along and changes that schedule, it can push things out considerably.

Think about the logistics of training how many hundreds of people (and consultants). Plan on 2-4 hrs training for each person, usually 20-30 in a class. Then you can't train during peak hours. And it is busy at Disney now with the holidays. And let's talk about vacation time. Key people out can push things back too

I have had projects pushed out more than 2 months due to something discovered either in the development of the requirements, the coding or the testing. Hate when it happens, but that is how it goes somedays (she says as she sits in a hotel room in TN because a project is going not so well andhas to be on site for the week fixing things

Also, I doubt Disney would implement a new system over a holiday week. Now that would be :scared1:

My guess is *IF* anything is going to happen on Dec 22, it will just be to open another 30 days on the dining window to get thru Easter peak season ADRs and it will be on the old system. They will probably wait for ADRs after peak season until the new system is in place and everyone is trained.

Of course it's just a guess. But these days, anybody's guess could be just as good as Disney's whole thinktank of geniuses........

can't believe I said that with a straight face:rotfl:

There is a sticky at the top of the board that will keep you posted with all the current information. Below is a quote from page 1.

You can make reservations for Chef Mickey's, Cinderella's Royal Table and Victoria & Albert's at 180 days. (180 +10 Still applies for resort guests staying on-site)

You cannot currently make reservations past March 22, 2009
