there will be 5 on our upcoming december trip and i'm making ADRs online this week. there are many foods i can't eat. sometimes i will let disney prepare a safe meal for me but other times i will prefer to just sit while the rest of my family eats. on those occasions, is it better to make a resservation for 5 and then tell the server i've decided not to eat (i've done that in the past) or should i really be making the reservation for 4? we only need 4 chairs, since i'm in a scooter, but i was worried that not all tables for 4 have a table edge where i can park.
thanks,
dj

I was going to post a question regarding ADRS too.
I was wondering if it was ok to make them online and then say we had a wheelchair when we went to check in for the ADR. we usually phone up to make ADRS, so the wheelchair request could be added to our ADR :confused3
IM just looking forward to making ADRS online.

If i was in your situation i would make an ADR for 5 just so you got room at the table. :goodvibes

if you make them on line you can make them 190 days out so that helps to get the exact time/place you want. i've been told the exceptions where you have to wait till 180 days are for CRT, Hoop Dee Doo, and some other one which i can't recall, but i think was abbreviated SoA???

why not make them online and once you're all done, call to add the wheelchair notation if you want. but you might not need to call. i've never added the fact that i was in a scooter to my ADRs and never had a problem--they just move a chair away from whatever table they've put us at. unless it's at a restaurant like CRT which i believe has a step. and maybe hoop dee doo has issues, too. then i'm guessing advance knowledge would be important.

they've got places to list food allergies on-line--maybe soon they will add a place to indicate a wheelchair. that would be useful.

You must make the reservation for the total number of people in the party. This includes wheelchairs, infants, or anyone who may not be eating.

In the situation of the original poster, if you reserve a table for four, where do you expect to park your ECV? You cannot park in a aisle or between tables, there is no space and you would block an aisle or other access. If you will not transfer from the ECV, they can remove one of the chairs from the table and you can park there.

Similarly, with an infant, there has to be a space for the infant. Unless you will keep the infant 100% of the time in someone's lap or on the floor under the table.

I've never seen this once in the over 30 times I've been there. Yes, I've seen wheelchairs, but never a scooter.

Could you please tell which restaurants allow this? I've seen a few where you can park inside in the lobby of a restaurant like the Coral Restaurant in Epcot, but not table side.

I would love to know more this aspect. TIA

Thanks for that, i thought i could make our ADRs and not worry too much about wheelchair space. :goodvibes

good luck making your ADR's hope you get everything you want.xxx

thanks! good luck to you, too! so far we've gotten them all. i love the online reservations---the only thing i don't like is the waking up every day at 5 a.m. part....

Cheshire Figment - thanks for your answer. i guess we'd been doing it right all along. i'm not sure why i thought maybe it was preferred to put down just the number of actual diners. but it makes sense to put the number of bodies.

There have been posts in the past from people who only put down the number of diners and then did not have a space for all the bodies. SO, best to put down the total (including babies) when making the ADR.

Besides space, I have been told they also keep track for fire safety reasons - each room has an assigned number of occupants that are allowed.

I am pretty sure I saw someone in an ECV tableside at akershus. My memory stinks so I am not 100% sure, but I *think* it was an ECV, not a wheelchair.
