We are planning our first Christmas trip to WDW - hurray! :woohoo: We can make our ADRs on June 6th...here's my question/problem.

There are definately 3 of us going...however, 4 more are thinking about going with us, but they won't know if they can go until well after (Sept/Oct) we need to make ADRs for our faves!

So, do I make the ADRs for 7 and then cancel the 4 off of the ressie or make two seperate ADRs for the same place (like a ressie for 3 and a seperate one for 4)?

TIA!

Hmm.

I CAN tell you that you won't be able to just cancel 4 off the reservation. You'll have to cancel the entire thing and hope there is a party of 3 available. In other words, you'd end up starting over.

Unless you're dining somewhere that takes a credit card payment per head as a hold, you won't have any issues being seated with a smaller party when you get there without penalty. My instinct would be to book the 7, if they opt to not come, call back and see if there are any parties of 3 available at your chosen restaurant. If there are, book it and cancel the larger party. Don't cancel ANYTHING until you get the smaller amt booked first so you don't lose your table. If they don't have a party of 3 available, I'd stick with 7 and tell them when you check in that 4 were not able to join you. They'll seat you at a smaller table and a larger party will be seated sooner.

You could book party of 3 and party of 4 but you can't guarantee you'll be seated together. They do try to do that, though, if you ask at the host stand. That's a viable option as well.

I would make a ressie for 3 or 4. If the others decide to join you then they can make their own ADRs. Once you are at the restaurant you can try to get seated together or nearby.

There aren't a lot of tables for 7 at most TS restaurants, please don't reserve them if you can't use them. There will be "definite" groups of 7 who may get turned away from your restaurant as a result of your "maybe" ADR. Finally, there isn't a guarantee that a table for 3/4 is available when you go to switch, you are going at a very busy time, with Holiday pricing in effect: lots of families will chose the DP, its the best TS value.

Just one DISSERS opinion. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the quick and honest responses...we'll probably book two seperate ressies: one for 3 and one for 4. Thanks again! :goodvibes
