ADR problems

We are going to be in WDW late Jan 24-31, 2009. We called to make our ADR 180 days out and they said we cannot make any reservations because they are changing the system. I knew there was going to be some changes but I asked her when we can make our ADR and she said she did not know. I was quite frustrated...I am used to Disney being more organized. I feel like I won't be able to get the reservations I want (like Le Cellier or California Grill) because I don't know when to call.

So....does anyone have any information or updates on this situation? What is my best plan of attack at this point?

BTW - we will also be in WDW 2/8-2/15/09. I have some major "ducks to get in a row"!

From what I've seen in other threads on this board, while the new system is being installed, 90 days out will be the timeline for making ADRs.

90 days? So, I can make ADR on 10/24 for dining on 1/24/09...right?

I just called this morning (Mon. Aug 4th) for our reservation Jan26-Feb 1...and it shocked me I couldn't make my reservations. I wasn't aware of this system upgrade since we just made our reservations. I did however get Cinderella's Castle for breakfast they ARE taking those reservations. So if anyone is looking for that that time of year.....call and try. She told me that they aren't taking new ADR's til end of October I'm going to keep calling every once in awhile....the only thing going for me it is a quiet time to go. Any other info I get on it I will post!

I would check back periodically (either by calling or checking here on the Disboards) since they aren't actually announcing a date when the new system will be up.

One good thing about it...no one else will be getting early reservations either!

But I know what you're going through...I want the same obsessive planning capabilities as always!

NEW DINING RESERVATION SYSTEM IN THE WORKS
Disney will begin implementing a new reservation system that combines dining, recreation and tour bookings.

The conversion will start on July 21, 2008 and is expected to be functioning on October 24. While this is taking place, the latest dining reservation date which can be booked in advance is January 25, 2009. Once the new system is operating, it will revert to the 180 day Advance Dining Reservation window.

The exceptions to the shortened ADR booking window are Cinderella's Royal Table, Chef Mickey's and Victoria & Albert's.

We are going to WDW from 1/30 until 2/6. Yesterday was our 180 day booking window. We were only able to get Chef mickey's and CRT. It looks like we will have to wait until Oct. for everything else

OP - You should have been able to book for 1/24 and 1/25, but nothing after that. I would call back if you want ADR's for those two days.

I know this really stinks, I need to obsessively plan out my trip NOW!!!

LOL! I love these boards...I enjoy talking to other people that are just as compulsive about planning their WDW trip as I am! Thanks for the info, everybody!

It's always risky to give out a date when a new computer system will be fully in place. There are so many things that could go wrong with the implementation. Just when you think you have all the bugs worked out, there comes along a situation you never thought about.

And if you do call back right on October 24th, be prepared for some minor glitches in the system. Please don't expect Disney World to be back up and 100% immediately. They haven't tested some of the strange dining requests we Dis-ers can throw at them!
