I'm sure this is on here somewhere already but I searched and couldn't find. So here goes:

Anyone have any experience trying to make an ADR for two separate parties together?

Thanks as always- you all are a true fountain of knowledge.

Do you mean breaking a large party, for example 12 people, into 2 ADRs of 6+6 at the same restaurant/same time? Yes, that is done quite often. The trick is when making the first ADR to list someone else in the party as lead guest (the person "managing" the ADR), not the person who is booking the ADR -otherwise, the system won't let you search for an ADR for the same restaurant and same time. Then when booking the second ADR, it's okay to leave oneself, the default, as the lead guest.

Or do you mean making a single ADR that includes members of two parties who have separate resort reservations and separate MDE accounts, etc.? That can be done easily as long as everyone is linked as Family & Friends in the MDE account of the person making the ADR - when the ADR is booked, just check off those individuals as being Guests on the ADR. That's not really necessary, since it's not required to list the names of any guests other than the lead guest on an ADR, but checking them off means that the ADR will show in their plans in their own MDE accounts.

Or have I completely misunderstood?

You absolutely nailed it with your second guess. Sorry if I wasn't clear!

I think that is exactly what we need to do here. I'm going to look into it ASAP. Thank you!

But, to your great unluckiness, you have prompted a follow up: HOW do we link each other as family and friends in my MDE account?

Thank you again!

HOW do we link each other as family and friends in my MDE account?
Open your F&F list, scroll down and click on Add a Guest. That gives you several options, so it depends on what information you have.

If you're not connected to any of them at all yet, I would click on Enter their name and age and then complete that information for the person who has the MDE account, with the exact name they used to create their account (i.e., if they're Robert Smith, don't put Bob Smith).

Or if you know their Disney resort information, you can click on Import from a Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservation.

Or if you're already connected to one of them, say a parent or spouse, you can click on Find through my connected Guests, and it should pull up a list of their children or spouse or other people that are in their MDE F&F list, and you can click on the ones you want to connect to your MDE.

If you're using the MDE app on your phone, and you're physically close enough to the person, there's also a Scan their linking code dialog that you can use, but it requires putting your two phones next to each other!

Good luck - I saw your post on the Y&B thread - y'all are going to have an extraordinary time! Best wishes!
