ADR, and only ordering a drink or dessert?

???

The BOG thing makes sense because that is the only alcohol you can get in MK and it was only allowed because it goes with the meal. And PP said at least 2 people were ordering wine and nothing else (while one was getting dessert), which appears more like a bar than a restaurant.

However, the Le Cellier thing makes no sense. DH and I each had two drinks at dinner at WDW before. I mean the server knew we had a drink (because he served it) and then served us a glass of wine with dinner.

I thought it was terrible. She had ordered the beer from a kiosk outside of the restaurant, and the server either saw it or the CM checking the party in did. I am not sure of the details, this was over a year ago. The table would have been able to order the wine pairings, which is what she did when they ordered the meal. That is when they refused her wine service.

We are going early November so hopefully it won't change before then. I would hope that any changes in policy would be clearly communicated prior to when we show up for our ADR.

I was not trying to worry you. Rumors fly all over the boards, and this one happened to be one that was being discussed last week. I doubt that any changes would be made without a lot more discussion taking place here.

I was just saying that if anyone wanted to have a lite bite in Beast's Castle, I would not wait til the "best" trip. Book it now and enjoy it. If the change does not occur, and who knows what Disney will do given the way things seem to happen, then you get to go twice! LOL!

Last April (2015), my husband, our DD, and I went to a late ADR at BOG, and my husband and I just weren't hungry - poor planning on our part with respect to the timing. We went to the restaurant because we didn't want to be charged $30 as no-shows. When we attempted to order a glass of wine for each of us and a dessert for our DD, we were told that we would have to order something more "substantial" - at least split an appetizer - if they were going to serve us alcohol. We ended up leaving the restaurant and weren't charged the $30 since we had been seated, but it was such a waste of time that I wish we would have just paid the fee.
They do this because they don't want drunk people at Disney... You have to order something "substantial" to counteract the effects of the alcohol.

Alcohol is an issue in Disney, and they have some guidelines servers must follow. For instance, a friend of mine had ADR at Le Cellier during F&W. She ordered a beer while watching the kids play, it was the only one she had all day. She drank 1/2 and then went to dinner. Because she was seen with the beer at checkin the server refused to serve any wine to her with dinner. The rules make no sense to me but????

Did she ask for a manger. This is "I made up a rule" time LOL! I have walked in with a beer, finished it and had wine with dinner at LOTS of World Showcase restaurants.

Maybe they don't want drunk people in the parks or in MK. You can order a giant drink at Trader Sam's and order no food to go with it.

No, they do this at BOG because they are trying to pretend drinking doesn't happen at MK. You can do this at other restaurants at Disney, heck there are some places called bars all over Disney where that's the norm. LOL!

In MK is what I meant- not Disney property in general.

I don't drink often and I'm shy, so if something like this happened to me, I would be very uncomfortable challenging it. I would worry that I would look like a drunk then LOL I would probably mention it to the manager on my way out (or I would *hope* that a manager would come around during a signature meal to ask how everything was...they do at Yachtsman and Narcoossee's)

I understand how digestion works. If that was truly their reasoning, they could just as easily limit non-eating customers to one drink per person.

Exactly.

LOL. Yet another area where LeCellier fails as a signature. Management just wants to turn tables your satisfaction is not a concern

We are from NC. Unfortunately I can't pop in at BOG anytime I want. We only go to Disney every two or three years.

If it were possible to get just wine or beer at BOG, no one who actually wanted to eat would ever be able to get a table!
