Adoption Updates

Our LOI came through today and we're booking flights, getting visas, etc.

We hope to leave early next week.

Julie

Congrats to those that received their travel calls. We got our referral back in October and we are still waiting on that call. Our agency assures us we are very close. If we are able to go in February, ironically it will be 9 months from start to finish.

Melanie
sahm to Hayen-8, Morgan-5, and Logan-2 (waiting for us in Thailand)

We found out this morning that we are IN PGN!!!!!! This is the final court.. it will most likely take 8 weeks plus.. depending on if we get kicked out of the court (most people do.) If we get kicked out, it starts all over again... I'm hoping at least by June to have her home!!! :) :dance3:

Wow!! Lots of good news to be shared!!! Congrats everyone!!!

Well...we had our final homestudy appointment today! Our SW just left...we cleaned our house like mad all weekend and she glanced around the house...lol! Oh well...it's done and that's all that matters! We have a few more pieces of paperwork to submit to her, but she's going to write up the homestudy and send it through once she gets the rest of the paperwork from us. A homestudy DONE in about 3 weeks...wow!!!!

So we're moving right along!!! Woooo!!!!

That is wonderful! I hope you don't get kicked out.

Congratulations... that is a big step! I remember cleaning the house like mad!

I just wanted to say congrats from a fellow China adoptive mom.

Sharing in the excitement with all of you who wait. I did this 18 years ago, and got the sweetest little dark-haired boy from Korea. He was chubby and almost had a mowhawk because he had rubbed his hair off the back of his head. He was THE cutest baby I had ever seen in my life. Well, he was equally as beautiful as my other two, anyway. He was a true gift from God that I thought would never, ever really get here. I sat by the phone, willing it to ring the call that would say it was time to pick him up, but it just wouldn't come. The day before Thanksgiving 1988, the call finally did come. We looked at his picture on the refrigerator everyday until his arrival and talked to him as if he were already here. I truly do know about all the trials of the waiting, and I know the exciting reward at the end of the journey. So many things you are all saying, I have done and have felt. I truly do rejoice with you.

Welcome aboard! Enjoy the trip!

Once you are en route to meet your child, your emotions will turn from terrified but excited to positively surreal. You won't believe that it's finally happening.

From where will you be adopting?

Hello again! We are adopting from Guatemala. What was the turnaround time for your I-600A?

Hi Julsmom... so glad you stopped by!!!

Since you mentioned you are adopting from Guatemala I'm wondering if your agency is wanting to slow down due to the Hague Treaty?? I haven't been following it too much once we proceeded with Kazakhstan but that popped in my head.

Good luck and WELCOME :goodvibes

Welcome Jennifer! We've only just filed our I-600A about 10 days ago. Our homestudy should be completed by the first of next week and then we wait for our fingerprinting appointment. From then, I have no idea how long it will take...hopefully not long! (we're adopting from China and are trying to get our dossier off ASAP!)

Our SW told me yesterday that our homestudy was done, save for a few pieces of paperwork that she's waiting for. We'll have those to her this weekend! Wooooo!!

It's almost kind of surreal...to have been in the planning stages for so long and then to be thrust into the process full steam ahead! It's such an odd feeling...When the homestudy is complete, I think I'll celebrate by buying a little something for our future daughter! :)

I can't remember specifically about our I-600A. I think it was about 2 months. However, I'm remembering back almost 6 years ago. It'll be 6 years ago in mid-February when we decided to start our adoption process.

Our whole process from start to finish took 7 months from Russia. I know things have slowed since we did it. I have a friend who has been working on a Russian adoption for 1 year now.

Our son now 19 came home on halloween of 1988 from Korea. Then on March 15, 1991 our son, now 16, from The Phillipines joined our family. It was truly a miracle. The best 2 nights of my life.
