It seems like a bunch of us are in various stages of the adoption process so I was thinking we could be a support to each other. I'll start....

We are adopting a little girl from Kazakhstan and hope to have her home by this time next year. We are about to sign with World Partners Adoption agency and are just about to start our homestudy. We also have to get our immigration application done soon.

Who's next?

I love to hear about everyone's adoption stories, and am always eager to hear updates.

Adoption is such a wonderful thing, and I wish you all my best as you anxiously await bringing home your sweet daughter. You must be excited beyond belief!

We are in the midst of adoption too. We have definately lagged behind in our paperwork though. We are just sending in our bios and have some of the legal stuff done. Our home study should follow soon. We are adopting a little girl from China...hopefully we'll travel next summer.
Great to chat w/you and keep me updated!
Krick

We are beyond thrilled!!!! I can't stop thinking about her, talking about her and we are already so in love with her. It's such an emotional process process but we know it will be so worth it when we bring home our little princess:

Hearing about your love for her gives me goosebumps--honestly.

{{{HUGS}}} to you and krick! :grouphug:

It is so amazing, isnt it? Have you been able to see a picture of her yet? We are definately not there yet but I wish we were. What I would give to have a picture! Imagine the day that you get to see that????
Chat soon and good luck!

No, we probably won't get a picture until next summer. They won't give us a picture until a month or so before we travel. I'm already dreaming of that day!!!!

Kim,
Just wanted to say congrats, and DH and I know what you mean about not being able to think of anything else and how you love her already.
Good luck in your process and have alot of patience, it will come in handy.
Here's the picture we fell in love with :flower:

We are almost done here! We are just waiting for our court date to finalize, we have a case number and a judge, just waiting for a date! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Man, there are a lot of Kim's here... :teeth:

Kim... your son is beautiful!!!!

 Hello!

I love hearing everyone's stories!

Let's see...I was hoping to be Dossier to China this month but it's looking like early November instead. With the agencies projections that should put me traveling in late January or early February. I CAN'T wait.

A little background, I was in the process of adopting from Guatemala when things fell through. I decided to step back from the adoption for a while when I spotted little Sun Ying on the waiting child list on rainbowkids.com. Love at first site. :lovestruc I was lucky enough to get an update from the orphanage last week (but no new pictures darn it), here it is in case anyone is interested:

Sun Ying, female, was born July 25, 2002. Before she had her surgery, Sun Ying’s development was below that of her peers because of her congenital heart disease. On September 21, 2004, “Tomorrow’s Project” sponsored her to have congenital heart disease repair surgery. At Tianjian Tai Da International Coronary Artery Hospital. Surgery was successful. Results were excellent.

Sun Ying has not had any adverse effects since her surgery. Her activity and diet are all normal and her quality of life has improved. She is stronger by the day and develops normal.

Now, Sun Ying’s height is 78 cm, weight is 9.5 kg, head circumference is 43.5 cm, and chest circumference is 45.5 cm. After the surgery, Sun Ying’s physical development and intellectual development progressed very rapidly. She can now walk by herself, she can feed herself, she enjoys playing with others and when she’s happy, she laughs out loud. Sun Ying has a great sense of humor and often makes those around her laugh too. She can also use simple words in combination with body language to communicate with others.

Sun Ying is lovable, likes to laugh, appears to be very bright and is adorable.

Note: Here are the converted numbers:
Height: 31 inches
Weight: 20.9 pounds

She's SO tiny, especially for her age. I just want to scoop her up, cover her cheek with kisses and squeeze her like crazy. I was so grateful to get three referral pictures when I accepted her referral. Everyone teases me because I have these pictures EVERYWHERE at work and home. One is my avatar, here are the other two:

Geeez...I've become one of those "gushing mommies" I used to make fun of and disdain 10 years ago. ;) I can't help it, I had no idea you could feel THIS much love for someone you haven't even met yet.

Thanks for the compliment, we think he's pretty cute too :teeth:
Do you know what region you will be traveling too? Or is it too soon?
Feel free to IM or PM me if you have any questions.
Also one of the best info sites we found was the yahoo groups they have a Kaz board, and ones to specific Kaz regions if you enjoy reading and keeping up to date, these are good ones and very helpful folks!

You have every right to be a gushing mom--Sun Ying is just beautiful!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I'm not an adoptive parent myself, so I have no personal stories to share; but adoption threads are such a favorite of mine!

Originally it was Kostanai but we decided to go with a larger agency and they work in 11 different regions so I have no idea. I have started to frequent to the yahoo groups kaz adoption board... it's sooooo helpful!!!!

Happybratpack... she is beautiful!!!! I'm so happy for you!!!

Luvmydogs... you are so sweet and encouraging... I hope you stick around because that's exactly the type of support we need :goodvibes

I love reading these adoption updates. I was adopted 40 years ago this month. I was chosen because I was Chinese (but born in the US). So because of that I have a soft spot for little Oriental girls. But I love to hear about any adoptions. Good luck to everyone and you are doing a wonderful thing. :goodvibes

Wow- It is great to hear from an adoptive person! We adopted our ds (now 17mths) last yr. We started out planning to adopt from China and then he almost fell into our laps, so we decided to take what God offered us domestically! We want to eventually adopt again (perhaps as soon as we win the lottery ... lol!) and we will probably do international! We had a distant relative live in China for some time. She volunteered at an orphanage ... the stories she sent us were incredible and what made us think of China originally! :)

My advice to those of you going through the process - you will forget about ALL The time you spent dreaming of your child and you will then begin to live out your dreams! AND, it is even better than you EVER imagined! :)

And the first time you walk down Main Street with your new child, you are certainly on :cloud9: ! :) It was the BEST! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Good luck to all and best wishes for a speedy process!

We already have her first trip planned!!!!

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another WPA family on the DIS board. 4 years ago today we arrived home with our two children from Kazakhstan thanks to WPA. Feel free to PM if you have any questions.

So nice to hear all the adoption stories, successfully completed or in the works. :goodvibes Good wishes to each and everyone of you.

Here are our two, about two years ago (rare pictures with them both, LOL), now all grown up. Vince came to us 28 years ago, Natalie, almost 25. :goodvibes

I'm so happy for you all. What beautiful children and what wonderful parents.

Isabella's adoption is final - at last. Our story is different from most of yours as our little girl is my husband's biological granddaughter. She came to us nearly 3 years ago. Her life had been chaos but she's doing beautifully now. And she's safe and protected. She and I will be celebrating with our "We're adopted - finally!" trip in December!"

All the work, all the paperwork and worry and expense are worth it. :cloud9:
