Adoption Updates

Our update is we are now added to the sibling list so we may be returning with 2 instead of 1!!!!:cool1:

WE are now #6 on our agencies wait list for a boy from ethiopia..hoping for a referral by christmas or sometime in early january

Wow, a lot has been going on with so many of you! Congratulations to those who are moving along in the process.

ALDF, have a great time in WDW with Madeline.

Freaky, I hope the 6th time is the charm for you!

I don't post often but we just finalized the adoption of our second foster child. :goodvibes

I don't post often either, but we are inching closer to our referral from China.

The CCAA has referred families logged in up until 2/17/06, we are logged in on 4/3/06,..............maybe another year of waiting or 18 months for us.......it's been a LONG journey, but I feel like it is getting closer, slowly, but closer.....

good luck to all waiting, and congratulations to all who have completed their adoptions!

6th time?? not sure what you mean

You said this was your 6th agency. I hope that's the one that gives you access to your child.

I think she meant she is now number 6 on the waitlist that her agancy has. So, she is 6th in line for a child. LOL! I read it the way you did too, for some reason. OOps!

Ha! I was wondering why they were on their 6th agency. I thought they were still in the process of interviewing agencies.

Yay! 6th in line! That's great!

Wow! Lots of good news around here! Thanks for bumping this bean!:thumbsup2

We're going the fost/adopt route!!

We took PRIDE last year but had to delay turning in our application, for financial reasons. Now we have the ball rolling again.

We had our first meet with the SW, 2 weeks ago. She came to our house because she was going to be in the neighborhood. Yikes!! I spent a week cleaning. LOL!!!

We got our first aid cert. last week! Our first Bridge Builders class was last weekend, Foster license workshop was Wed., then CPR and last Bridge Builders are 12/6 & 12/13. All we'll need then is our med. clearance, individual interviews and home inspection. Oh, and of course, we need to get the house ready. LOL!

We are hoping to adopt one or two, under the age of 5. We specified girls, since we only have 1 room, but we are wondering if we should open up our preferences.

Hopefully, we'll be in the hopper for matching by Feb.:thumbsup2

Last night we went to Mervyn's and bought kids clothes, for the first time ever! It's good to have different sizes on hand since you never know what the foster kids will have when they come to you. It was strange but cool to do that and put them in the room. We just cleaned out the room that has been storage for 13 years, so it's starting to seem real!

That's exciting!! My Partner and I are going the foster/adopt route as well. We're just doing the waiting game. We've had all of the classes, and she's licensed (we'd both like to be, but since we're same sex, only one of us can be).

I know exactly what you mean about buying kid stuff. We haven't really bought a whole bunch of kid stuff, but we're collecting second-hand stuff from friends and family. We've got a baby crib, a twin size bed, an infant car seat, 2 swings, a bunch of bottles, some toys, and a WHOLE BUNCH of clothes. But we still don't feel prepared. We don't want to pour too much money into buying a whole bunch of stuff, so we figured we'd wait on the rest of the stuff to see what we need. But it was a LOT of fun going through all of the hand-me-down clothes and seperating the sizes and gender. :cloud9:

Now we just can't wait to get a placement. :wizard:

Good luck on yours! :thumbsup2

How fun!! We have just started looking for beds. Our friends had 2 convertible cribs but sold them just before we said we might need them.:headache: Sooooo much to think about! I think it's a little easier to prepare when you are giving birth because you know you're starting with a newborn. LOL! It's tough to get ready, without breaking the bank, when you go the f/a route.

I don't understand the logic behind not licensing both of you. You would think that they would want you both to go through the training gauntlet if both will be acting as foster parents and living with the kids full time. When you adopt, will you both be allowed to adopt the kids as equals? Look at me, trying to find logic in discrimination......sorry, brain fart! ;)

I'm in CA, so the laws are different. I don't how other states are. Here, they stress over and over that there is no discrimination as to who can foster or adopt from the state. You just need to be able provide a safe, stable home.

Good luck!! You're in the home stretch! Keep us posted!

WE got our referral call on Tuesday afternoon.. We have a beautiful 6 month old little boy in Ethiopia. We should be traveling in 3-5 months to bring him home. :cloud9:

Congratulations!!!!! I hope your wait to travel goes by fast and that you are holding your little boy before you know it. You will love Ethiopia. Do you know what area your little boy is from?
