Adoption Updates

Just wondering if anyone had any updates!

Us...nope. Not yet. China's cleared families in the review room for 2006! They're now into 2007. I'm a little nervous because we'll be coming up soon in the review room!!
Isn't it funny how you can't wait for your date to finally be up for review, but it makes you nervous thinking about it? You'll do fine. I can't wait to see pictures of your DD.

We are pushing on with our Ethiopia adoption..final homestudy visit tomorrow and we hope to be a # on the wait list by the end of May...

Bumping this up to the top in reference to another adoption thread that was started.

Anyone have any updates?

We're one month closer to the review room! :thumbsup2 Although it still makes me nervous...lol

Anyone else?

You know, I was asking for updates today, but I thought I'd upload a picture of Ivan and Kristina for you to see. It was taken on Prancer's 10th birthday. Kristina is now 12 and Ivan is 13. He's over the top girl crazy. Thankfully, Kristina still thinks boys are icky.

What a beautiful family! Have a wonderful summer!

How do you think we feel? Ivan's a couple inches taller than me and quickly approaching being taller than his Dad. Kristina has about 2 inches to go before she's as tall as me.

Pushing down on their heads didn't help. They still grew.

Oh, and another thing is that she's wearing a size 9.5-10 shoe and I just bought sandals for Ivan in size 13!

Thank you! We love them!

The summer has been great so far with me not working. The kids are loving having me at home with them. If only love paid the bills, I'd never go back to work. ;)

How is everyone doing?

We're good. Our trip is in Dec, and we are so excited. M is now starting to recognize Mickey and Minnie and gets excited when she sees them (on the tv specials, or in apparel, or even her diapers LOL!)

She is talking up a storm - my days of listening to sweet babble are numbered, I'm afraid. Her birthday is on the 19th, just a few days away. We're taking her to the beach & boardwalk (just as we celebrated last year, without her...) & we have some very sweet presents all ready for her.

Here are a few recent photos

Excellent news, you are in my prayers!:lovestruc:lovestruc

ALittleDisneyFan - She's beautiful! Disney is so fun at that age. Have fun celebrating her bday.

Freakylick- Hope these few months go fast for you. We had missed the whole court closure thing. Do you know how long your time is expected to be after they reopen?

Our sons doing great. We celebrated 1 year home last month, and also completed his US readoption last month. Hes grown SO much. About 8 inches in the year. We formed a group local Ethiopian adoptive families and last week we had our first meeting, about 10 families came. The kids really enjoyed it. And tomorrow we're going to a local Ethiopian church where a new Ethiopian friend is going to introduce us to some people who immigrated from our sons region. Its hard to find people who speak our sons first language so we're excited to make the connection.

My prayers are with everyone still waiting! We adopted domestically 3 1/2 years ago. We have friends waiting to adopt domestically, they were going to do Guatmala, but then things changed in that country (I don't know what) right before they had the paperwork done, so they switched to domestic. I also have a cousin and his wife who have been waiting for over a year to adopt from Korea and they are sure hoping it's soon! I guess in Korea if you don't have any kids, they make you have a boy first, so they know they will have a son. And the people who bought our house last month (for sale by owner, so we talked to them alot!) called to tell us they are all done and waiting to adopt domestically now! I'm so excited for them all!

Guatemala closed on Jan 1 2008. They are trying to finish up the last of the cases that were initiated before they closed. Hoping they will re-open.

Ashley, Madeline is just beautiful! You can see in her eyes that she knows that she's loved!

I don't get why countries close their doors to foreign adoptions. With so many children available, you'd think they'd want to get them into good families no matter where they may be. Stupid political junk! :headache:

When we got on the list wait time was 6-8 months and that is because we are on the list without our FDL(favorable determination letter) which is needed to officially accept a referral. Alot will depend on how many boys they get in we are asking for between 0-12 months
As for Guatamala a big part of why they closed down is fear of corruption there were reports of babies being stolen. We were originally going to adopt from there but were moved in the direction of Ethiopia with all the uncertainty in Guat.
