Hi everyone,

DH is out plowing tonight and I'm starting to get snowed in so I figured I would update the adoption fundraiser for those interested. I'm not sure if this is against the rules or not because the original thread was locked. I apologize if it is and please lock or delete if that is the case.

I did talk to DH about it and he was not too comfortable with the idea so I told my mom that we decided against the beef and beer to help with adoption related expenses. We did decide however that after our daughter is home, we are going to either do a golf outing or beef and beer to fundraise for a playground for one of the orphanages in Kazakhstan (http://www.worldpartnersadoption.org/playground.html). Our agency has been building one playground each year and it really is a great cause. DH is going to see if the firehouse will even sponsor a couple of children as well (http://www.worldpartnersadoption.org/project_sc.html).

Thank you to all of the many who have given me their support. I appreciate it more then you could ever realize. I do apologize if I, in any way, contributed to the negativity of that thread. It's a very emotional and sensitive issue for me as a soon to be adoptive mommy. When you are sleeping at night, I'm up wondering if today is her birthday. I wonder if she was fortunate enough to have a loving birth mom who gave her up at the hospital and is not one of the many who are just abandoned in the street, at police stations, etc. While eating dinner with your families, I'm wondering if she has enough horse meat mush to keep her little belly from growling. While you tuck your kids in at night, I'm wondering if she has a blanket and someone to kiss her goodnight. I wonder if anyone is paying any attention to her and comforting her when she cries. We don't know who she is but she is loved more then I ever thought possible.

So, if my emotions got the best of me, again I apologize... it may be hard for you to understand the emotions we feel, but I hope you will respectful of them.

Thank you!!

P.S. (DISCLAIMER - I only posted the links in case anyone wanted to check out the site... I am not soliciting nor accepting donations).

As an adoptive mother myself I understand the roller coaster that you're on right now. Know in your heart that at the end of the ride you'll hold the baby you've dreamed about in your arms and all will be right with the world. I wish you great happiness.

Your plans sound wonderful. I was a supporter of your first idea, but this idea is even better!

I hope your daughter is home with you soon! Good luck and God Bless!

:thumbsup2 ditto! :) :grouphug:

I love your ideas and I hope your DD comes home soon. :)
I have numerous friends that have adopted. I've listened to the ups and downs. When my one friend finally got her placement she was ready to stop every car on the road and say "Wanna see my son's picture?" :cloud9:
Best of luck with everything!
And thanks for providing the links.

I love the playground fundraiser idea!
I am an adoptive Mommy (3 years already!)
and I just want you to know that your baby
is dreaming about you, too *sigh*.
You will be a wonderful Mommy - your baby is blessed already...

I'm really loving the new idea you have. I think that's great. I hope all goes well with that and of course, I hope that all goes well with the adoption process and all. :) Can't wait to hear an update on that. :) Good luck with everything and God bless.

I'm not an adoptive mommy, but the "what ifs" in your post made me teary-eyed. Really makes me count my blessings. I'm glad you found a nice way to raise money for other kids---it's a nice way to honor your soon-to-be adopted daughter, if that makes sense. Good luck, and God Bless Y'all.

What a wonderful idea! :thumbsup2

Best of luck with everything, and I'll double-ditto CEDmom. In the end, all the waiting, wondering and worrying are more than worth it! :goodvibes
