I woke up before sunrise. I took the opportunity to walk around the Polynesian grounds. Some morning photos:
Those are just a small amount of the photos I took. I went to the front desk to ask if I should take a cab & they told me I definitely should. They got a taxi for me & he drove me to AK...but they weren't even letting anyone into the parking lot yet. One of the cast members came out of one of the parking kiosks & told me to go to AKL & wait for a bus. That's what I did. I waited for a while & made it to the AK entrance right at 7:45. There were only 2 other people waiting. After about 15-20 minutes, almost everyone was there and they asked us to walk over to Africa to meet our guide at the end of the bridge. Immediately after the bridge, we took a left & walked way in the back & through the woods. We arrived at a little building & we were asked to put our belongings in lockers there. I put everything except my camera in the locker. We then walked to the other side of the building where they weighed us- only the CM can see the actual weight. I was worried about this one because even I don't want to know my weight! We were then handed a vest & went through about 10 minutes of instructions to put it on. It was a process, let me tell you. It wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world, but it is important for safety & really holds everything you need. They gave us a metal water bottle that snaps right onto the vest. After that, we went over the "test foot bridge". I have to be honest & say that I KNEW without a doubt that I would have problems crossing the longer, higher bridges. I let the guides know & they assured me not to worry too much. Our group waited for the last minute arrivals to suit up- they gave us jungle juice while we waited. I didn't drink too much of it because I knew we wouldn't be near any "facilities" for 2 more hours.
When everyone was ready, we walked out the way we came in and headed to Pangani Forest Exploration Trail.
