OK! I ADMIT IT! I just can't do this without you all!
I have been in such a funk these past 3 weeks, and I finally realised it's because I have really lost my focus. I have been doing all kinds of justifying. "I need to get going on spring cleaning", or " It's just one chip", or "I'm getting enough exercise doing my yard work." Then why have I gained almost all my weight back?!?!? It is because I have not been here! So I am going to do Alex's challenge. Today, I'm going to make salads for lunch, and make DH walk with me. I need to get back to the gym, but I'm not sure that will happen today, as I got into some stachybatrix (sp?) this morning, and I am about done for the day. I will do my pilates today, and I will not eat out until our Vegas trip (Two short weeks away! )
My biggest challenge is going to be the GRANDMA! SHE'S BACK! Yup, it's true. She is a dieters worst nightmare. She loves through food. Over the Holiday weekend, I did all the cooking of the major meals. Fisherman's stew, Chicken Fajitas, and grilled burgers. However, the Ice Cream, which I beg her not to have in the house when we're there, was present in abundance, as were the Tostitos, Ruffles and donuts! I must do better! She says she keeps it for the kids. I tell her they don't need it either! I am so worried that they will be feeding them garbage while we are in Vegas, and she as much as confirmed it. "Well, I certainly won't be cooking them the types of meals you prepare! They'll probably weigh 800 lbs. by the time you get back!" UGH!
So, I will be needing much support, as we visit her almost every weekend. I love her so, but she is not going to love me to death this summer! No more drinking rum and cokes, magaritas, scotch, beer, pop, nothing but good clear water, and one glass of wine! :p No chips, Hagen Daz, Pancke breakfasts, sausage, bacon, 1/2 lb burgers with lots of mayo or fried perch dinners! I need to get back to fitday, and move that body!
PLEASE HELP keep me focused! I haven't lost my faith, but things are a a bit fuzzy for me, and I've lost my balance. I'm off to wash lettuce and make lunch and get to my walk with DH.

Keeping the Faith!
Tracy

You are not admitting defeat - you have discovered that you need support to stay on plan - thats not Defeat thats GREAT - You have uncovered one of your triggers that in the past may have sent you off plan for good - So now this trigger will never trip you up again!

I say CONGRATULATIONS!!:D

You may not be aware of it, but the lettuce washing ritual is the first step into induction of WISH! THAT"S RIGHT!! There are little know BY-LAWS (Why people don't read these things........ I'll never know!!!) that have been established on this board! And this happens to be amoung the first!

"Upon the first day of induction into the WISH community, you must perform the 'washing of the lettuce ' ritual to the satisfaction of the group. While holding the lettuce leaves under the water, simply chant......... " IT WILL COME OFF "......... while rubbing clean the lettuce. It is important to note that for each time this saying is chanted and for each piece of lettuce that is cleansed by the water , a pound will come off successfully.

So- if you want to lose 20 lbs- get those 20 pieces of lettuce out and start chanting! Personally- I saw my water bill go up quite nicely as I have 125 lbs. to lose!!!! My fingers got all pruny too!

I'm happy to see you back! You'll be fine.... good luck! :p

I am so proud of you!! I really thought you were admitting defeat. You have just learned your weakness, and now you can fight it. Way to go!!!

You can do it...if you know it then you can fight it :)
Hugs and good for you for not giving in!!!!

LOL Karebear!! Oh that is toooo good!
I know! If we all stand in front of the sink swaying..that's exercise isn't it when the urge is upon us...it wil work!
I have been forcing another diversion upon myself when I have been feeling the temptation. A glass of water and a good book! (Atkins book for me right now cuz I want to know what it is about)

Defeat?!?! Not a chance!!!! It's not allowed on the WISH Board!!:D

Welcome back to the WISH board, Tracy! It sounds to me like you are on your way!!! I can sympathize with you on the MIL, my MIL (who I love dearly) is a wonderful cook, but seems to be trying to fatten us all up for slaughter or something! We visit her every weekend, so temptation is always on the horizon for me!

Karebear-LOL, you are too much!!!

That's a good attitude. You're not giving up! Get walking, make that salad, wash that lettuce & lose some weight. You will feel so much better when you do!!!:p

Good luck!:Pinkbounc

Thanks guys for all the positive feedback. Nope, I'll never give up. I just didn't realise how important this board was to my success. I am a Gemini, and though people think we get bored easily and tend to flit from project to project, the truth is, for me at least, that it is a problem of single-mindedness. I just absorb myself in something, to the neglect of everything else. When I see 2 weeks of laundry piling up, because I've been to the gym for 2 hours (including travel time) and gone to meet DH for lunch, which gobbles up another 2 hours, and volunteer at DD's school and blah blah blah, every day, I think I need to pay more attention to home matters. I then become single minded about that, and my committment to health suffers. As I said, I have really lost my balance.
But I did stick to my plan today! Though my walk was a bit abbreviated, and my pilates just didn't have it's normal level of intensity, I went through the motions, and managed to eat incredibly heathy stuff today, and I do feel better! I even skipped the wine with dinner! (Who am I?) I also joined a food co-op today! That will help a lot because I can get things there that our local stupermarkets don't carry.
Heathy snacks and whole grains, instead of salty fried grease bombs and bleached white flour blech! So, my mind is slowly coming back around. Hopefully my body will follow.;)
Thanks again!

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

Tracy, you had a great big word purge there didn't you?! Alright, you are all cleansed out, and you are back OP. I am a Gemini too, and I can relate to your single mindedness...when we do something we do tend to do it full steam ahead. We do too much and then pass out and need to regroup. Balance is hard for me too. So, lets find it together, and make sure we include taking care of ourselves as part of the balancing act. What do you think?

Linda

Go tracy, go tracy! go tracy, go tracy!

I don't think it has to do with your sign....I think its in your name...LOL!!! You have described me PERFECTLY....I lose "focus" very easily...for exactly the same reasons. Hang in there Girlfriend..!!!

You were one of the BEST Motivators...and I am very glad you are back on track!!!!

TRACY....LOL

Of course you need us! :) Just as much as we need YOU!!

I know you can do this and we are always here for you!!

There comes a point (okay many points spread out over various holidays- presummer bathing suit jitters- important events- blah blah blah!) when you just have to say- I'M GOING TO DO THIS!! You just keep repeating those words until it changes into- I'M DOING THIS- and one fine sweet day you might even say...I DID IT!!

You've got your mind focused- you realize your pit stops- now load up on fuel (i.e. good food and exercise oh and of course WISH) and start the race!! You'll be at the finish line before you know it.

Here.....:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
just a little extra to put a bounce in your step as you go FORWARD-- remember---
ONWARD AND DOWNWARD!!!!

We're all in this TOGETHER- and YOU'RE DOING GREAT!!!!!!!
Tara

You guys are the best! Thanks for the laughs and encouragement! There is strength in numbers, and I have the best team on my side.
Luvinit and blanq,
I'm so glad someone understands how I feel. Single-mindedness can be helpful, but since losing weight is such a long process, it can be trouble for the rest of the things that life throws our way. Unfortunately, our greatest strengths are often our greatest weaknesses, as well. Something to keep in mind while we're beating ourselves up over our weaknesses. We simply need to redirect and use it to our advantage.:)

And guess what?
I went for another walk last night!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: I was feeling very lethargic and decided to put a little pep in my step. I took my baby with me (Nanook, my fuzzy husky baby)and off we went for a nice stroll around the neighborhood. It was very pleasant, and though it wasn't exactly a power walk, it beat the heck out of sitting on my behind or pitching it and going to bed. I slept well for the first time in days, and woke feeling ready to do it again today! I'll just keep going through the motions untill they are a part of who I am again. Kind of like
you just have to say- I'M GOING TO DO THIS!! You just keep repeating those words until it changes into- I'M DOING THIS- and one fine sweet day you might even say...I DID IT!!
Thanks Imhall2000! You are so right!

Oh! one more thing, I lost 1/2 lb. Water I know, but it still feels good!

Keep the Faith!
Tracy
