Admit it: You lie about having priority seating

We are often late to our ADR's, as well, but I have never lied about having one. We just have the resort print a list of our ADR's when we check-in and bring it with us. We have a very impressionable 7 year old ds and would never want him to catch us lying, especially, when he gets punished for telling even a tiny one.

This past October during a MNSSHP night we had ADR's at LTT. I checked all of the information with concierge before we left, and when we got there we were not in the system. I didn't bring the con # with me because I had just checked. I now carry all of my con #'s with me. They did seat us with a 15min wait.

In January, we had Hoop-Dee-Doo reservations and when we checked into Pop, they told us that we had to pick up our tickets at the concierge desk. When we did, the CM also printed out little stubs that had all of our ADRs on them, with the restaurant, time, ADR number, etc.

I'd recommend taking a couple minutes when you check in to visit the desk at your resort and get those printed out. The few minutes to do that will be a lot more pleasant than spending time at a restaurant trying to convince them that you really do have an ADR!

(And they're ADRs now, not priority seating. :teeth: )

With over 15 trips under our belts in the last decade we had never had a problem until Dec. 2004. We had made a last minute PS for Crystal Palace, it was my 3 yr old nephews 1st trip and he loves Pooh. So we show up 15 minutes before the PS as instructed and guess what? No we don't have a record of you......Now did I keep our confirmation #? No because we had never had a problem prior to this. Do I keep them now? Absolutely!!!!

So amybe all those poeple aren't being dishonest, just a thought.

I have never lied but last time I was in Disney I had a few reservations that were booked in two locations because I wasn't sure which park I wanted to be in (crowd thing) and when I arrived at Disney and went to cancel the extra reservation ahead of time so others could have them. To my surprise several of my dining ps were missing. I was shocked! The dining CRO I talked to was so nice she tried to get them back and put a password on them so they could not be deleted without it. I think what happened is that Disney dining cancelled the earliest dining CP if there were two at the same time. Only had this a few times and was in the process of cancelling them ahead of time while in Disney. I had scheduled dessert at a different restaurant than dinner and was planning on going to both because we wanted to be at the Poly late.. They were several hours apart but they cancelled my dinner plans at Bomas( the earlier PS). I almost had a heart attack! So beware of any overlapping ressies:) :rolleyes1 :hippie:

I have never and would never lie about having an ADR...first off its very immature to even think of such a thing..secondly, its disrespectful of those who do....

I was raised in the south...but NOT in a barn...there is such a thing as manners where I come from.

They mess our name up all the time. They hear a T or B for a P and the ch they hear as a g??? It's such a pain. Know ones knows how to say it either. So, I always have the ADR number will me. The first time we went it wasn't fun. I didn't know any better. The one CM from dining for our last trip remarked to me when she looked up our ADRs by phone number that I had some interesting spellings of our name!! She did change them all so they were correct.

Well I would never lie and yes I have encountered the I tried but could'nt get it at the podium and I have also had a couple of families in complete disbelief that they couldnt get to eat where they wanted because they had to make ADR's in advance......But I have had in two different occasions called just to make sure all my ADR"S were in place, just to double check and the person on the phone tells me she cant find my reservation......I was in tears as it was for the princess storytellers in epcot and asked to talk to a manager, and gave them my reservation number and surely they had my name mispelled, I think they really need to come up with a new system or something.....I am going on Sunday and I am a total reck know and will be calling in the morning to double check my ADR's...........

Last Oct we had adr's all 7 nights, Boma's and biergarden could not find them. had no problem though. They where for 5 pm got us in anyway with no wait.

I have intentionally hung around the hostess desk at times. You would be amazed at how many people claim to have priority seating reservations but cannot be found in the system
Really? Wow! I can't imagine ever wanting to waste any of my precious vacation time doing such a thing.

(I haven't read this entire thread, but I'm guessing I might not be the first person to find this hilarious! :rotfl2: )

....until our last trip. With 3 kids in tow, we went to CRT for an early breakfast...8:15. Had my confirmation number and the whole 9 yards. They couldn't find me in the system anywhere! Finally, I asked the the 4th person (who was also the manager) if perhaps our last name had been mis-spelled. Sure enough...they had the whole name misspelled and the previous 3 people kept passing by our confirmation number since the name wasn't all that close! I spent nearly 15 minutes being persistent...(and was proud that I didn't lose my temper since I knew my credit card had been charged!). Trust me I got quite a few "uh-huh...sure you have reservation" looks from others standing around...but I really did! I'm glad the OP has never had this problem, but having been in the "this happened to me" situation, I'd say don't be too quick to judge! I also learned from this experience if your meal is guaranteed with a credit card, be sure to bring your credit card statement with you! To this day, I can't figure out how my credit card was charged when my name was so completely mis-spelled...but I guess the billing address was enough!

They had misspelled our last name. I was getting quiet the looks from everyone. Finally a nice CM searched through the whole time frame that we were booked for and found our name. She appologized for the mix up and asked our server to give her a bibbiddi bobbiddi brew and glass. :lovestruc

I can't imagine lying about having ADRs! And, like other posters, I bring along my confirmation #'s in case of any mix-ups. We have one of those last names that should be very easy to spell (hey - it's only 4 letters!), but you'd be surprised how many people find interesting ways to misspell it :)

Well it wasnt a lie but we showed up at the Concourse Steakhouse one night and I swore I had ressies at 730pm and it was actually for 630pm. They couldnt find us anywhere. Of course I left everything in the room. So I called the dining number and they told me it was for 630pm. :bitelip: So I sauntered back up the stand with my tail between my legs and told them my mistake. We got seated no problem....

Ha, ha. Very funny. When I stated that I "hung around the hostess desk" I didn't mean for an extended period of time. Usually, it is only for three or four hours. I send the family to the parks while I surreptitiously stand close enough to the hostess desk to hear what is going on. This way I KNOW who is trying to claim to have priority seating but really does not. Only once have I ever been questioned. That time the hostess asked security to have me removed. She said that I was bothering the guests. :confused3

OK, is this an April Fools joke? What's next... a discussion of vigilante guests hanging around food courts to see if people are using refillable mugs from other resorts? ... a discussion of guests sneaking around pool decks going through others personal belongings making sure they have the correct resort ID to be in the pool?

I am fairly sure he was being sarcastic. This is most likely because he was trying to poke fun at the earlier comment about having better things to do than hanging around the hostess' desk. Originally when he mentioned what he had noticed hanging around the hostess' desk, he was most likely referring to times when he had an ADR/PS and was waiting for a table, thus "hanging around the hostess' desk" waiting for his name to be called and "people watching" in the interim, not hanging out there in lieu of Soarin' or the afternoon parade, as was insinuated earlier.

I certainly wouldn't spend my vacation pointing out the tacky, selfish, illegal or immoral habits of others, but sometimes you can't help but notice it. Very rarely would I take action beyond informing a CM, though.

Bingo. I couldn't have stated it better. I don't care what you or anyone else is doing on vacation, Unless, I am standing there and it is obvious to me and everyone else there that you are claiming to have a priority seating when you really do not. Then I notice, but I still don't do anything. I did think it was funny that someone would make fun of me "hanging around the hostess desk" . Told that one to my wife, she said it served me right for even starting the thread. Kumbya.

Well, this is a revealation. Maybe, they can be wrong, on occasion. However, I would be willing to bet that a significant percentage of the people who claim to have a priority seating that cannot be found at the time of checkin never had one in the first place. Call me cynical.

OK you are cynical. Calling attention to this is really just encouraging people to do just what you are accusing others of doing. Stop giving people ideas, please. Also, I have had them bungle my ADR. I made it two days prior one time and they had no record of it. I wasn't as organized as some posters and couldn't present the ADR number to prove it. We had an hour wait. We weren't happy, but things happen sometimes. Your post amounts to pure specualtion on your part. I'll venture a specualtion since you took a shot at it. The vast majority of people are honest and not trying to pull something.

Me? Cynical? C'mon. That would be like calling Johnny Fairplay, umm, ethically challenged. I would be willing to bet that the REAL Johnny Fairplay would claim that he had a reservation when he did not to realize an advantage. Ha, ha. Afterall, he was willing to claim that his Grandmother had died when she did not. On second thought, Johnny would find something much more original to gain entrance to the restaurant. I am interested to know why you chose this particular name though. He is obviously well known for deceit.
