Probably worth noting ... Pew (Research Center) defines “middle class” as those earning between two-thirds and twice the median American household income, which in 2021 was $70,784, according to the United States Census Bureau. That means American households earning as little as $47,189 and up to $141,568 are technically in the middle class.

Also worth noting, As is often cited, the share of adults who live in middle-class households is shrinking. Now, 50% of the population falls in this group as of 2021, down from 61% 50 years earlier, according to Pew.
State of Washington just passed a law that seniors making $72,000 a year are eligible for property tax rebates. So the median income isn't exactly middle class.

now being on the west coast means I don't have to wait til midnight, it was 9pm for me when I first started try and 10:55pm when I FINALLY got in. The worst was that most people in my cruise group were not having any issues. Some did and then eventually got in. ARGH. I got most of it done by 11:15 then called it a night and tried to finish my bookings off this morning. Once again Disney IT stinks stinks stinks.
I had the same issues when I did online check in for our cruise last month. I couldn't get it done for nearly an hour so by the time everything was completed, of course all the PATs from 11-12 were gone. We got 1230 it's not bad but yeah their cruise app is so glitchy!! (Well all Disney apps in general!)😑🙄

As noted, especially in the first 10 pages or so, other people have weighed in with their own realities based on where they live - certainly very different based on location.

Ugh, woke up to a completely dead cell phone. Apple chat is useless. Now have an appointment with Apple at 11. Since I have my orthopedic appointment at 9 for a cortisone shot in my toe and the second round of knee gel injections, I should be okay to walk there.:crutches:
Good luck with the injections today.

Those were CLASSIC!! How about the "Don't Be Tardy for the Party" bus tour?? And Big Poppa? Wonder whatever happened to her assistant Sweetie?
OMG Kim makes me cringe!!! 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵 Big poppa....🤦🏼‍♀️ I used to watch a lot more of the RH franchise...like most of them. Then they made too many I just couldn't keep up! 🤣 BUT I watched THE OG for a long time...RHOC! I did admire Vicki for a bit because she's such a boss!! I was a whole lot younger and I was like..."if I have the drive like her to do business...maybe some day I can live a luxury life like that" 💰💵💵 Well that "dream" didn't live long...lol!

Thank you for sharing this. Ds26 used to listen to this very often back in his teen years.

For me, it brings back happy memories of our kids as toddlers seeing the sidewalk sections that light up. I might even have old pictures of one stopping to squat down and touch every dot of light as it lights up. If we let him, he would have spent an hour chasing lights. Pure joy.
No problem - I listen to this often as this is the area loop I loved when going to Epcot. So sad it was removed along with the light up walkways.

People fight about IP in Epcot being good or not and whether Guardians fits the park or not. Blah blah blah don't care about any of that just bring back the Innoventions area loop.

Sorry if this has already been discussed. I can't keep up with this thread going thru so many pages every day!

Anyway, we had USO APs for several years. Royal Pacific, Hard Rock and Portofino Bay are the 3 that give unlimited Express. It is amazing. You will be instantly spoiled. Dh will not visit there unless we have the room key for unlimited express.
One night of hotel stay gets you 2 full days of express: the day you check in, and the day you check out until park closing time.
I would highly recommend it. I did notice Portofino has remodeled their rooms to a more generic decor. Plain white walls ugh. That used to be a 4.5-5* hotel back in the day and I wouldn't call it that now. It is the furthest of the 3 and usually the most expensive so we only stayed there once.
Anyone's input are welcome!! No matter it's a week or 100 pages later...🤣 So:thanks: for the tips! I think I like Royal Pacific vibe and theming more regardless, over Portofino. We want to do a true Universal trip instead of just overnight, like 3-4 nights so it's very leisure no rush, to luxuriate!! 😁 We also want to do volcano bay (never been). But no real plans yet when we are going!

As a Florida girl born and raised I have no clue about how to navigate in snow. We have traveled a lot but usually not in the winter so I still haven’t ever really seen a winter wonderland where I could build a snowman or throw snowballs. I freeze at 70 degrees so we haven’t made snow tourism for our family a priority.

How does figure it out when retired? If you're living on savings and/or SS and/ or pension?

I’m over here hoping the snow piles along my driveway might be gone in the next week or two. Lol

Winter driving story. My older brother is 8 years older than me and he taught me to drive. I received my drivers permit in December and he thought it was a good idea to take me out driving whenever there was a snowstorm. Parking lots. Country roads. Only we wouldn’t drive with mom’s car or his car, but with the truck he used for work that didn’t have power steering or power brakes. I do now how to drive in snow.
Y
We actually are still close after all of that. 😂

I think that was generally the point of many of the original responders - there are so many classifications of what "middle-class" is financially + the location of the people - that an arbitrary income plus other "qualifiers" didn't reflect a lot of peoples realities - nonetheless - we are welcoming to EVERYONE's input to the discussion - even (and especially) off-topic :)

Thanks. I was bracing for this, my second time getting this shot in my big toe. The injection is so painful, the doctor said she doesn't get many people coming in for a second injection.
It’s crazy how painful injections in the feet are! I had a plantar wart removed and I cursed out loud when the dr did it, even though he warned me it was going to be painful. Our feet take the brunt of our weight and walking/running but don’t hurt yet a little needle in there and yowza! Crazy how our nerves work!!

Totally agree!! The first treatment one of the PTs tried for my lymphedema was to wrap really tightly between my toes and all the way up my calves with a special type of bandage. It was actually more painful than having the external fixation on.

Everytime I see that show mentioned I say SKYWALKER in my head instead of Skinwalker. Probably because I like the wine and really want to visit Skywalker Ranch :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I stumbled upon the Australian version of Love it or List it is a few weeks ago and after one episode hubby and I were googling 'how to move to Brisbane from Canada' lol It's difficult. Oh well :rolleyes1
I also read it as SKYWALKER!! LOL!! 😂
Well...if you REALLY want to visit skywalker ranch...you certainly can!! Book a sailing on the Wish, go to Hyperspace lounge and order the Kaiburr Crystal (if they aren't sold out). It comes with a voucher for a visit to the ranch!! It's only $5K for that "drink"! Oh and don't forget, it's only ONE voucher per drink, so anyone else want to go with you, tell them to bring $5K (plus gratuities of course).
