dh would have preferred our late cat had a human vs what our youngest at age 2 1/2 named it when it showed up in our yard ('meow') because when we moved and he ended up transporting the cat via car across 3 states he had an incident where the cat escaped from a motel room which resulted in dh running (in his underwear) around a parking lot shouting 'meow, meow' (he was convinced someone was going to call the psych ward on him)
This happened at my Aunt's house. It was her, and her brother-in-law, in their PJ's, in the middle of the night calling the cat. The cat's name was Peekaboo.

It's on my list. Did you ever watch Better Late Than Never with Henry Winkler, William Shatner, George Forman, Terry Bradshaw, and Jeff Dyes? My husband and I enjoyed their antics as well as seeing the places they traveled.

i loved that show!

I would have paid a decent amount of money to see that outside my hotel room. 🤣

my brother was lurking inside the hotel peeking out the curtains at him-he freely admits that had the men in white coats shown up he would have disavowed any knowledge of the situation :rotfl2:

Haha, I'm sitting in Islands of Adventure waiting for it to be 4 pm so I can use my after 4 pm Express pass and I'm still on this thread xD
My favorite treat at Islands is the lemon/strawberry slush they sell at the front of the park right before the entrance to Seuss landing or they have another one at the end of marvel beginning of comic strip area. So refreshing and not too sweet and not too sour. I get the combo of both flavors. They only sell it at those two locations and not at all at Universal.

I’m excited to announce that I was the rebel spy today on star tours, I have probably ridden that ride 50 times since the have added that and have never been selected. So watch out what is said today on this thread, as I will be reporting back to Chewbacca.

I guess I have to check out the DCL train wreck thread on the muster drill now.

I've always heard that the first week of Dec is busy at WDW because of so many DVC members visiting. I think it's still the slowest (not that slow even exists) holiday week.
We have done 2nd week of Dec up until Christmas (pre-pandemic) and it was lovely! Lower crowds and wait times weren't bad at all. I would definitely do that time frame again if I want to do the holidays stuff. How come the 1st of week of Dec is so popular with DVC members? I'm guessing it's because they tag on Thanksgiving w/ it and starting Dec 1st all the point charts are lower?

Yes, lower points, smaller crowds, MVMCP, decorations. I don't know how many include the actual Thanksgiving holiday.

@bcwife76 @Mackenzie Click-Mickelson - I'm totally an overpacker!! I rather have it than not. I hate going to the store to buy extra stuff that we already have at home. I have a standing packing list. It's the same one I use for all travel no matter it's a 2-night weekend getaway or 2-3 weeks overseas. DH and I have been together for so long, and traveled so much together that we got it down who brings what. I am always the one that will pack first-aid kid, medication, sunscreen, disinfecting wipes, print out all the resy/documents we may need, etc. He packs all the electronics stuff and whatever extras things he thinks we might need.

I"m the spreadsheet person!! I LOVE spreadsheets!🤪 (it's a huge part of my job so I guess I kinda have to like it lol) I love color coding things, have different tabs, just looking at them make me feel so good and organized!😅 But I only create spreadsheets for longer domestic trips or international trips.

@Jangles - :thanks: so much for the Universal AP suggestion! I priced it out earlier for these two options for 2 adults, same travel dates in May:

A. Two-parks preferred AP, Single-day tickets for Volcano Bay, 5-night stay @ Royal Pacific - $2,415 (plus AP discounts for food/merch)
B. 5-day tickets (Buy 3 days get 2 days free), 5-night stay @ Royal Pacific - $2,674 (no discounts for food/merch)

I must say, I'm surprised to see getting an AP is actually cheaper than the hotel/tickets package. I will definitely keep this in mind when we book this trip in the future!👍

I went and read it earlier, too. 😂 I had actually already read the first page or two before it turned.
Is it worth our time? I guess I'm just really surprised there's even a thread or "drama" around that? Like what's there to discuss? :confused3

when our kids were little we brought home less than we packed to take! we would always do wdw in the winter months b/c it was nice tolerable weather for us so i would hang on to the kid's previous summer clothes/swim wear and pack it along with the stuff they were just about to outgrow. all that stuff got run through the washer/dryer at the hotel (or the room when we had dvc) and left neatly folded with a sign that read 'freshly laundered and free for the taking'.

i'm also an over packer-esp. otc meds and such, i hate to pay resort prices and it never fails that what is needed is unavailable. there have been times i've mailed stuff to the resort ahead of time-particularly shoes.

on electronics one of the best finds we snagged was the Ciao Underseat Hardside Carry-On at costco. perfect for packing dh's vr stuff as well as all the various odds and ends (and doesn't count as a carry on).

OMG I'm an overpacker, too. We should start a support group. You know when people say "take half of what you packed and twice as much money?" UH NO. Why would I want to waste money on stuff I already own when I can buy souvenirs and such with that money. I'd rather spend $ on luggage fees at the airport bwahahaha

It's not worth your time, it's becoming a farce and it's getting super ridiculous. People like @Mackenzie Click-Mickelson who are making GOOD and VALID points are being picked on by others and it's ridiculous. Admin has already told one person to cool it and they are still being jerks.

Do you need a preferred for May? It's not in the blockout dates for the lower priced passes. I would look at how much you would save on food & merch for 2 people at 10% (sadly for me doesn't include alcohol). Are you going to spend over $1000/per pass on those? Perhaps you are. I have a preferred because I am often offsite and drive, the free parking at the Uni garage is a big benefit.

we did universal right before covid hit and i too was surprised at how much i could save by breaking out the different elements of the stay vs. doing as a package. i also found that playing around with the room types could result in savings-i found that by renting a one bedroom suite with an adjacent 1 standard bedroom was less expensive than doing a 2 bedroom suite. prices at universal in general were so much less expensive than wdw.

Great point!! That's even better, I can buy the cheapest AP and saved an additional $245~! 👍 We won't spend THAT much money on food. See that's why I have you guys! :thumbsup2 Thank you for pointing that out!

So that brings option A down to total of $2,170, a whoopin $500 savings compared to booking it as a hotel/tickets package!! INSANE~!😮

That's a great idea! Honestly I always rather give my stuff away to people in need of them, than donating them to goodwill.

Exactly! Well for us, we have annual airline credits tied to our Amex that we can use for luggage fees, so we might as well do check-in! I know a lot of people just don't like doing check-in not because of the cost, but more about the efficiency and worries of lost luggage. I can ONLY do carry on if it's a very short trip and it's summer time!
Going to WDW will NEVER EVER be a carry-on for me...noway! Just my ears and my loungefly bags alone they can be a carry-on!!! hahaha:rotfl:

Yay, you can always upgrade if you decide to go back and need a higher pass.

Oh my gosh .... spent the day with family and am thrilled to have pages and pages to catch up on, but I am almost too tired to contribute! I will tap back into the next round of topics.
Me too! Last guests just left, and first time I have had a chance to check things out since around 1P this afternoon.
