Add'l person in dining party?

I have been able to get a reservation for 4 at CRT. However, we may have a 5th person joining us. I have attempted (lots of times) to get a reservation for five without any success (CM said tables of 5 go quickly and are hard to get). If we end up having the 5th person able to join us, will they be able to join us for dinner?
CM even asked if I had a party of six. If I booked this and only five showed up at CRT, would I have to pay for the additional meal?

At most restaurants, it wouldn't be a problem to book 6 and have 5 show up. BUT - CRT would probably charge you for 6 people. I don't know for certain - but I really think that's what they'd do.

We had made reservations 6 months out. My parents decided a month before the trip to go. I don't know about CRT in particular but we just brought them to Coral Reef and Le Cellier who were book up and asked if we could have 2 more joins us and they found us a table we had to wait about 10-15 minutes and our table was ready. So I had tried to get them reservation myself but couldn't. So I decided to do this way and it worked. good Luck and I hope you have a great trip!!!!

I assume you had to pay up front for your party to the CRT as they what we had to do. Change it to a party of 6 & pay for it & if they can't make it as long as you call 48 hrs ahead they can credit your card back for that extra person but put you back where you are starting at. I wouldn't show up with six to expect to be seated. Just my view it really up to you but you do need adrs unless someone cancels.

Last year, we were able to add my parents to our table at Ohana's and Crystal Palace, but not Coral Reef. Guess it just depends.

CRT is a hard ADR to get. At some other TS you probably would just have to have a longer wait, but at CRT your 5th person may be turned away.

Thanks for all the info. I finally had a CM tell me this a.m. that I should book for 6 (which is easier than 5) and just be sure to cancel it before the 48 hour mark. Again, for all the info!
