Additional EV Charging Stations?

All analyses that I’ve seen show a net gain in environmental impacts after 15-20K miles. I keep my cars well into 100K+ so the math is in favor of an EV. Recharge time for most owners is at home. I have a plug-in hybrid. It takes a few seconds to plug in in my garage. I’ve gone up to 3 months between fill ups. That’s a lot of time saved every week at the gas pump. So I can justify a longer road trip charge time. My electricity is pretty cheap. An EV I’m looking into buying will cost me about $10 to get 300 miles of range when charging at home. At the most expensive chargers that I’ve seen, the charge would cost me around $37. My ICE car would cost me about $55 for 300 miles at today’s gas prices.

EVs aren’t for everyone, but more people could see benefits from driving one than currently realize it. It took driving a plug in hybrid to realize that I love the benefits of skipping the gas pumps.
Hybrids are definitely the more sensible alternative for lowering the emissions. I can't imagine that you would ever have a sufficient number of EV charging stations available for the public. I sold Fords for 20 years and the 2004 Ford Escape Hybrid was Fords first. America will always have a need for gasoline but 40+ miles per gallon with a Hybrid is the way to go.

One of my pet peeves. There is one Level 2 charger in the garage where I park. I will check it and sure enough some loser is parked there and is no longer charging or worse yet a non-electric vehicle.
Welcome to the real world! The same thing happens many times to handicapped parking spaces and public officials could care less! As long as they meet the requirements of having them they don't really care who uses them! It's especially bad for Van accessible spots, they are usually closer for a reason yet 90% of the time or more people parking in them don't need them!

Just another example of owners of EVs wanting a free ride! I already don't have to pay fuel taxes and now they want free charging stations? Of course they also get government incentive to buy the electric vehicles etc. etc. etc.

EV charging is not free. Also I pay $200 a year for my EV in my state to make up for the fuel taxes.

That still a small fraction of what most people pay annually in gasoline taxes!

I don't know what all the taxes on gas are, but google says ohio's gas tax is $.38. $200 in tax would be like paying for 519 gallons which is probably what the average person buys in a year.

Yeah, those folks should pay big fines, and repeat offenders should lose their driving privileges. Fortunately, the law enforcement in my area take it very seriously. Even if they have a placard, I've seen them wait for the person to exit the store to be sure that the person using it is actually the handicapped person. $500 minimum fine in my area, with a possibility of up to $1000. No excuse for that.

Huh. Colorado offers a pretty substantial tax credit. And there are chargers everywhere here. Even my rec center has one.
The fee is to make up for lost revenue from gasoline taxes. That’s how the roads are paid for.

Is that just state or state and federal taxes since gas and diesel have state and federal taxes.
