Additional 5% off DCL by using Target Credit/Debit Card

I tried the search and it seemed it was not posted before.

Target sells Disney gift cards in $25 or $50 increments. I was getting some for Christmas gifts and I used my Target Card. They give 5% off your total purchase if you do but I didn't think it would work on gift cards. Low and Behold it does!!! So I purchased more to help pay for my cruise next year as DCL takes gift cards as payments online. I just saved over $500 on my cruise by buying gift cards at Target. I have the Target debit card which deducts from my checking account. I also plan on buying some more to use on the ship.

I hope someone else can take advantage of these savings!

KEEP your gift cards after you use them. If for any reason you are due a refund (lowering of port charges, you cancel cruise, whatever!) DCL will refund to the same source you used to make the payments. If this is a gift card and you have tossed it out, you will have some hassle getting your money back. If you have the "empty" card, no problem.

I had to go a research this. You could easily spend that on a V cabin on the Fantasy. Wow! Sorry I doubted you.

I would love to take advantage! We set sail for our very first Disney cruise in 29 days! Did you buy these gift cards in-store? I've never seen them sold in Target before but I haven't been in a few weeks. I may go there tonite just for the gift cards...THANKS for sharing!

Occasionally with the target card, you get an additional 5% off coupon in the mail (I think it has something to do with prescriptions). If you wait to get one of these, there is an additional savings. I am trying to decide which has better benefits using a target card or Disney Visa.

I saw the Disney Gift cards the other day and made a mental note to stock up the next time we get a Rx rewards coupon

Keep your eye on Target's facebook page 3 days ago they posted a coupon for a free $10 target gift card with a purchase of $50 or more, it worked with the Disney gift cards so I stocked up, saving even more with the red card the coupon is expired already but I am hoping they might post it again so keep your eyes open.

OMG, I have a target debit card and we always have those extra 5% passes for prescriptions. I never thought of this. I still owe $3500 for our cruise. COOL. I wish I'd figured this out befor the first $1500 but I'll take it. Thanks!!

No you use the Target Red Card to buy Disney gift cards and use the gift cards to pay for your cruise

My husband works for Target and we also get his 10% employee discount and we get the 5% for the target check card so it nets 14.5% off of them...we paid our last cruise off (Fantasy in April) and saved a ton, and the best part was we had booked the cruise onboard...double dipping!

Also, my husband asked why the discounts work on the gift cards and that is because in their system it is merchandise and thats it.

Also, that 5% discount works on itunes gift cards, and all other gift cards, EXCEPT target gift cards and visa/mc/amex gift cards.

Yes. It works with both.

The Holiday versions of the gift cards are at located at the front check outs and the original versions are located in the CD/DVD/Blu Ray section part of the store.

The Gift Card actually has the Disney Store, Disneyland, Disney World, and DCL logos on them so you can use them anywhere in those places that are Disney owned.
