Adding someone at Checkin

Grandma may be joining us on our upcoming trip. We currently have two rooms reserved at CSR since we are a family of five so adding her would not put us over the occupancy limit. Here is my question, can I just add her when we arrive to one of the rooms? Right now our reservation guarantees us connecting rooms for families. If I add her now we loose that guarantee and if she ends up not coming I have the problem of three kids without a door between the rooms guaranteed. Do you think this will be a hassel at check in?

It's not a hassle at check-in. We have done this many times. No problem at all. Just have to give them the name/info for the additional person.

Greetings,
Those that have done this before when checking in did they charge you for adding the extra person?

I want to know too.

Thanks

I have added someone to our room at check-in a couple of times. There wasn't any problem doing this and YES they did charge for the extra person.

I thought if there's more than 3 adult in the room, they will charge extra for that 1 adult since they only allow 2 per room. But since they are getting two room, why would they be charged extra? Unless two of the children is over 18, then there would be 2 adults in one room and 3 adults in the other room.

when we were recently in WDW, my son was able to come with us, so when all three of us checked in, the CM had to get us another room (cause they had reserved a king bed, even THOUGH i had requested 2 double bed just in case) and they she informed me it would be another $25 per night charge.... :(

In September my daughter was able to join us unexpectedly and it was no problem adding her at AKL. They did not charge us extra, even though I fully expected them to.

I added my 20 y/o DD at check in at the Poly and we were not charged for her. We had a total of 3 adults in the room. They are pretty lenient at check in regarding this. Do it ahead and you are almost certain to pay the extra money.

I too had heard to add the extra person at check in rather than ahead of time to avoid the extra charge. For our trip in December at the AKL, I reserved the room for myself and my mom. At check in we added my fiance and we were never charged. For those of you in that situation, I would add the person expecting to be charged, but hope that you get lucky. In all fairness, at least you are making them aware of the extra adult (getting the key, charging priveleges, ect.) so I don't view this as cheating the system, it is just another instance of Disney being inconsistent on their policies.
