Adding second reservation for 1 night room only...

We have a package booked for April 23-29. Today I started considered leaving a day early and arriving the evening of April 22. I called and with my Spring Discount, they can't add the day to my existing reservation. However, they said we can just make a second reservation for a room only for that night.

I am considering this, but just want to be sure...

If I do this, will I be able to book FP from that first night I am staying, even though I do not have park tickets linked up to that reservation? (We would get in too late to go to the parks...)

Second, since we would likely be switching rooms after the first night (standard room first night and garden view the rest) what would we do with all our belongings? Will Bell Services hang on to them? Will them deliver them to our new room when it's ready, or do we have to go there to pick them up?

Is there anything else I should know or consider before booking a completely separate extra night? Are there any negative effects?

Any replies, advice, opinions are appreciated! I need to decide soon! My FP date is quickly approaching and I want to decide before that, in case the extra day buys me a day early to book them!

Thanks

No. Since your tickets are associated with your package, you can only book FP starting 60 days before the package starts.

I'd recommend packing everything you need for that night, and the parks next day, in one small bag. That way you don't need to even open the rest of your luggage. In the morning, check out of your room and check into your new room. If it isn't ready, have Bell Services store it. When you return from the park, call to have your luggage delivered.

Depending on how late you arrive, you might want to consider staying at one of the hotels near the airport. There are a few with free shuttle service to and from the airport. Unless you're staying at a value, they might be less expensive than a Disney resort. Then in the morning you could go back to the airport, and take ME to your resort.

When we were in a situation like that a couple years back, we stayed at the Hyatt at the airport for around $150 (over like $450 at contemporary). Next morning, we just checked out and wheeled our bags down to the magical express at 7:00. We were checked in and at the MK by 9:00 for RD. It was easy and saved a few hundred bucks over adding a day at contemporary.

We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside and just added the extra night (as a completely separate reservation). It was less than $200, so worth it just to be there! I'm a little annoyed at the thought of having to switch our room after the first night, but it isn't a huge deal.

I just really wish the day could have been tacked on to our original reservation so we would have gained a day to make out FastPasses!

There's not going to be much difference booking at 60 v 61 days. Don't stress.

You could also book garden view for your first night (if availability permits) and then you likely would not have to change rooms the next day.

My only concern is I wanted to do the Anna and Elsa M&G on April 24 (which is near the beginning of our trip), since that's the days my girls go to the BBB. However, if we can't get a FP for it on that date, I will schedule it for our last day! I just keep hoping to snag it!! :)

That is what I wanted, but it wasn't available. I considered calling and saying we would be willing to stay in a standard room the whole time, if we can keep the same room....but not sure if that would be annoying to them! We only got the garden view bc it is what was available with the spring discount! We don't really care if it's standard or garden...

Gotcha. You could call in and have the request noted that you'd like to remain in the same room for both stays even though it's a lower category. However, if standard rooms were sold out or not available during the promotion, they may be booked up. It's worth requesting though, and worst case, you'd just have to move rooms the next day!

We just did this a few months ago, and when we checked in, they went ahead and upgraded our one night in the garden view room and we did not have to change rooms. Certainly not a guarantee, but if a room is available they probably will do it if you ask nicely at check in - but you likely won't get it unless you go to the desk at check in and ask. Good luck!

We did the same thing in December. We were able to book FP from the first night because our tickets were purchased 3rd party.
