Adding person to ressie after free dining offer expires?

Does anyone know if we would be able to add another person to our reservation we have booked this Sept. with the free dining package? I know the free dining offer just expired but my aunt was considering joining us - she would be staying in our room so she wouldn't need a new reservation, we'd just modify our current one. Does anyone know if we will be able to get the free dining for her?

Thanks!

As long as the original booking was booked with the free dining the reservation can be modified to add or remove guests.

Did you actually try this? Did it go through? I tried to change my package deal that I booked during free dining to extend it by one night and I was unable to do it.

Joy, you may have been unable to do it because the room may not have been available for that additional night under the package offer. Disney only has a limited number of rooms available with the offer, and if that other day was not showing availability under the offer you cannot book it.
Did you try adding the day but checking an alternate resort?

Modifications can definitley be done, but like everything else they are subject to availability.

FYI - I just called to do this exact same thing. I added my sister to my package with the free dining. There are now 3 of us in one room and we all have the free dining. The reservation agent couldn't add my sister herself because it was booked with the special code that is no longer valid. So she had to call "Guest Services" who were able to make the change without a problem!

Adding Guests we can do, modifying dates...no. There is no longer availability in our system to change dates booked on this package, even by calling Guest Services

Tracy,
I have indeed modified dates for a guest. The CM had to have guest services do it since the package is not available for booking, but modifications can be done. As long as the original package was booked during the free dining dates, and the modification falls within the free dining time (such as adding another night, etc.) the package can be modified.

I have called 5 times trying to do this and have been told no each time without them even looking at my ressie. Is there something specific I should ask for?

I just asked to please add a day to my package and they told me no. The date is within the free dining period.

Lori,
Sorry to hear you are having a hard time with this. I'm a TA and I do this often for guests. All I can tell you is to ask to speak with guest services if the CM on the phone cannot do it for you. As long as your package is not exceeding 10 nights, and the room is available (with the discount) in their inventory they can modify the reservation.

YAY! I just called tonight after being told by 3 separate CM's that I couldn't have the free dining on my extended package. They were able to add an extra night for me this time with the dining package included. DIS boards is great! If I hadn't read about the package in the first place here, my vacation would be $600 more than it is now, and if I hadn't read here that modifications were being done on other people's packages, I would have never thought to call back a fourth time! Persistence pays off! thanks everyone!

Thanks Sue Ellen,
I called today after looking at my ressie online and had some concerns that it was booked improperly. The CM hesitated but I told him that I was concerned about it being booked wrong and I knew from a travel agent that guest services could modify the ressie to make it right and he put me on hold for about 15 minutes came back and said okay, it's all fine, I cancelled your room only and added that one night to the package and it's all fixed. Sorry you were given so much trouble over this. he faxed me the confirmation and it's all set. He also told me that the only reason they were able to do it was because there was such low occupancy that weekend (it's a holiday weekend :confused3 ) and told me to request an upgrade to a preferred room at check in because there was a lot of availability. Not a huge deal but that would be cool too.

Thanks again, it never hurts to keep trying especially when a travel agent with good experience verifies that what you are being told is inaccurate! :cloud9:

Just curious - where are you staying? We are at AS Music October 2-8 and trying to extend the package by one night.

Thanks!

I'm SO glad to hear it all worked out for you. Sometimes it just depends on who you talk to.
I have had CMs give me information that I knew to be incorrect, so when I have that happen I just call back and get someone else. Unfortunately there are even some Guest Services CMs that have some incorrect information also.

Even after a discount has ended, if you booked during that time frame, and have the discount on your reservation you can indeed modify it (again subject to availability.)

I hope you have a great trip! I'm taking my son for a quick trip with the free dining for my son (who will be turning 4 the week after I take him.)

Thanks! We really wanted to stay at Pop also, but when our party grew to 19 people and 7 rooms, they just did not have the space (with free dining) for us. I guess it's not so important where we stay, just that we're all together. We plan to go back next Spring, so we can try Pop then.

I'm glad to hear they don't expect Pop to be too crowded, since that probably means that AS Music will be even less crowded.

I have successfully added a day!!! :cool1: We are going Aug 27-Sept 04 instead of Sept 03. But was insuccessful in trying to change the resort from a moderate to a deluxe. :guilty:

We successfully added a day to our October trip - now staying until October 9, since the 10th is a holiday and my kids are off school and I am off work that day! Yay! :cheer2:

The CM said it can be done, but it takes some tweaking because the computer will reject it if it's not overrrideen by someone in guest services. It took a while on the phone, but it worked!! :goodvibes

Thanks, I am so happy to hear this. I assumed that it would not be allowed. I am still trying to talk DH into bringing DS with us on our anniversary trip, i figured I may as well quit trying since my arguement of "it'll only cost us $45 for his entire trip" won't work anymore, but now that it will, I'll keep working on him :rotfl:
