Adding park hopper after entering park?

Our family is visiting ONLY 1 day. Planning to purchase CA Adventure tickets. My question is: if in the middle of the day while at CA Adventure, we decide we want to also visit Disneyland, can we upgrade to a park hopper ticket, even though we've already entered CA Adventure? And how -- can we do it thru the app or do we need to visit the ticketing booth? TIA!

You'd need to go to the ticket booth and ask about this. I'm not sure if you can upgrade your ticket once you've scanned into the park.If you could upgrade, it would also depend on if there's availability for reservations at Disneyland.

If there's even a chance you want to go to Disneyland I'd just upgrade the tickets ahead of time. Have you been to Disneyland before? It's absolutely worth a visit if you haven't been.

Just wanted to add that I second visiting DL. Not sure of the reasoning for choosing DCA, but it has far less attractions than DL Park.

If the rides interest you more at DCA, that is great. For me personally, I view DCA as Disneyland PLUS a bunch of cool additional rides and shows. I could never do just DCA only as a park day without also being at DL. I would be disappointed because I love DL so much and there's so many incredible things to do there! There's basically 1/3 the number of rides at DCA as DL but they charge the same price for a single day ticket to both parks.

You can definitely do this, I just did it in June at dinner time in DCA when I wanted to go over to Disneyland. I went to guest services but they just walked me through doing it on my phone.

I don’t remember if it’s all within the app or if it redirects you to the site but it’s pretty easy, you go to your tickets and there’s a “modify ticket” option, then you have some choices and you can select “change ticket type” and it will let you change it to a park hopper ticket for whatever the fee is

As others mentioned it’s of course depending on park availability but in the few times I’ve visited it seems quite rare currently for a park to not have reservations available, the lower traffic/crowds this year have been discussed at length

Aren't reservations only an issue before 11:00 a.m.? Is there ever a case where you can't add a hopper "in the middle of the day" (as the OP mentioned)? Does Disney ever restrict entry to the parks in that manner?
