My mom added me on to her deed a few years ago so I am a DVC member. My husband and I would like to buy our own points. Is there a way for me to buy add on points without putting my mom on the deed for that contract? Or do the add on points have to be with my mom and then transferred to me and my husband? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I am waiting for a call back from DVC guide regarding VGF2 upcoming sale but would like to have has much information before the call as possible.

You and your husband can buy points but it would be a brand new membership and not an add on as those requires the same owners,

To add on, it has to be just your mom and you alone. Any contract with your husband generates a new membership.

Because you are an owner, you would qualify for the current member incentives for this new membership, but it would have to meet the 150 minimum.

The only way to keep things all in one membership is to keep UY the same and put all three of you on both of the contracts.

Thank you. I want to take advantage of buying direct, especially with the deal for BLT. Add on points would save us $13 per point. Since we are looking to buy 400-500 points, that's a decent amount of money. So my thinking was, buy the add on points with my mom under a new contract and then transferring the deed to me and my husband. Would that work? Or is that not allowed? Also, depending on transfer fees, it may not be worth it. Thanks so much for your help.

Since you are an owner, you can buy the points with your husband to start and get the incentives. It will be a new membership number sonot an add on to the current membership.

What you will see on your DVC log in is both,..the one with you and DH and the one with you and your mom.

Your DH will see only the BLT with you and your mom will see only the current one she owns with you.

We did this with our adult kids. DH and I were owners so we bought RIV with them and still go member pricing, even though they were new. It went into our Aug UY membership.

Our Dec UY membership is just DH and me.

Sorry to bring this up, but my concern with buying with your mom would be possible estate issues. I would keep your new points with your husband separate. You mentioned 400-500 points, I would break that up into smaller contracts. My only DVC regret is buying my 250 BWV in one contract. I wish I would have split it up, I would have more flexibility to sell part.

You are making it too complicated. You are a member, you can add a new contract as an existing member. It’s okay your mom isn’t on it.

Do I pay new member pricing? It’s a substantial savings if I can pay add on price for the number of points we are looking to purchase.

You pay member pricing because you are an owner and already on a deed. That is all that matters!
No you get the add on price. We bought a new contract at CCV. It was deeded different than our original because we added our daughter. They aren’t going to treat you like a new member because you want your next contract deeded different than your other one.

Add on price and member price are the same thing. @Sandisw didn't say "new member", she just said "member" pricing.

The place this gets complicated IMO is trusts and LLCs. DVC defines who can book and such based on the legal structure of those entities, which obviously can change. But maybe the member is still the LLC? I haven't heard a good answer as to who is considered an "existing member" in that context.

Thank you so much everyone. I was very confused after speaking with a guide the other day. The BLT incentive right now for add on and new member is $13 a point which is a big chunk of money for the number of points we are looking at. And I would prefer direct versus resale for the benefit of using points at all new resorts.

Based on posts above, I think if you don't think of it as "Add-on" it would be less confusing

There is "Member" pricing and "Non-Member" pricing
You are a member so you get "Member" pricing - regardless of who's on the contract

I am pretty sure that is what I said. They are a member and get pricing for that. I did not say new member

A different UY is not an add on. It will be a new membership because there are different owners

Add ons only happen when the owners and UY are the same.

But pricing is based on whether you already own something regardless if it is direct , resale, or with someone else.
