I currently own 200 points at BCV and am considering an add-on. We typically go during 'Magic' season and book as early as possible (11 months). I will either:

Add 70 BCV points for 270 total. This will get me a 1-bedroom at BCV for 7 nights every year during 'Magic' season.

OR

Add 74 points at BWV. With creative banking/borrowing, this will give me a 3 year cycle of:
Year 1: 270 BCV points (1 bedroom 'Magic' 7 nights)
Year 2: 222 BWV points (1 bedroom 'Magic' 7 nights standard view)
Year 3: 330 BCV points (a whole bunch of options including 2-bedroom/longer stays)

Anyone have a similar setup and forget to bank points? I can see how this would get complicated pretty quick. I love the BCV, but would also like a change every once in a while.

What would YOU do?

Keep it simple. Having points at another resort is only beneifical if you have enough to make reservations at the 11 month window.

I own at multiple resorts (all the same UY), and enjoy the 11 month booking window at those resorts. Have never lost a point, or forgot to bank. Remember, banking percentages are on TOTAL points, not points for a specific resort. So at the 50% window, you can still bank 100% of BWV points as long as total points banked is 50% or less.
As for your main question, it depends on how badly you want to stay at BWV standard. With BCV points only, your scenario would be something like this:
Book at BCV as a backup at 11 months. At 7 months try to switch to BWV std. The whole 7 days will probably not be available, but maybe the weekend is. So you book that and waitlist the other days. Of course that means you have to either have enough points for both ressies, or else cancel the BCV ressie and hope the remaining days come thru. Then wait on pins and needles for the remaining days to come thru. If they do, then you've used fewer points than BCV, so you want to bank them. Hopefully you're still in your banking window. This is not something I would go thru.
BTW, I'm going to BWV standard for New Year's eve. This is something I'd have no hope of doing without BWV points.

I just added 100 pts. to my BCV. I wanted the "power" @ the 11th month window at my home resort..and haven't nor expect any problems @ the 7th month at ANY other DVC..and not need to manage seperate resort contracts and mostly because its the 2nd smallest DVC.

How much can I actually stay @ the BWV's with 70 pts @ the 11th mo. window?? :scratchin :scratchin Yes...I can change resorts mid vacation.. :crazy2:

As membership grows, the worst that can happen is that I will "have to stay" at the BCV's... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

No, it will be 222 points at the 11 month window every 3rd year.
