Question I have a small contract at VGF and we love it, can’t seem to find a small add on with the same use year. We are very flexible with travel dates and ok with split stays. So waiting for the 7 month window is not a problem we just look and see what’s available and when and just go at that time.
I know the golden rule is buy where you want to stay but I see some small reasonably priced contracts with the same use year at OKW or SSR.
what are your thoughts on buying at another resort with same use year and just going when available at 7 month mark? Or would you wait for a VGF contract to come up.
for example we just booked a trip for September and got 4 nights at VGF we decided to add another night and it wasn’t available at VGF so we waitlisted it and took a room at BLT for one night. Actually think the split stay is kind of cool.
does anyone else do this or just buy where you stay?

Just my $0.02 but having a small contract somewhere that you don’t want to stay sounds awful. What if you are stuck at SSR or OKW most of the time? If you’re looking for 1 very specific date in a VGF studio at 7 months, you will not get it too often. So you’ll do a split stay for 1 night on most of your trips? I dunno but that’s not ideal IMO.

I know VGF direct is insane but there’s a reason people buy a lot of small contracts direct.

I have different resorts and I don’t think it is a bad thing, However, the small contracts, as noted, could prove harder to work with.

Id want to be sure it was large enough to get at least 2 to 3 nights. I love split stays so it does give you that and I have RIV and BLT so I own Epcot and MK areas for specific trips, and then use SSR at 7 months to add or get what I can!

OKW is not a bad place. I own there. The one bedrooms are HUGE. Largest on property.

We enjoy split stays. You can always get your add-on at another resort that you would also enjoy staying at and book them together at 11 months (with VGF) as a split stay. Then waitlist VGF if that's where you'd rather stay the whole time. If the waitlist comes through, great, if not, you can keep your split stay at your 'backup' resort, or even make a change at 7 months to anywhere else that happens to be available (changing out one split stay combo into a different split stay combo). You can try them all. If OKW or SSR are all that's available, it's not the worst thing. Every resort has its benefits.
