My grandchild will be flying to WDW with us and we will add her to our room when we check in but I would like to know if you have been able without a problem adding her at MCO for ME. When I called ME they said that she had to be on the reservation but we will be there for 10 days and she will be going to another resort the next day. Disney reservation said that if I put her on ours it she would be there for the full 10 days and to just add her at check in and tell ME so they will call and see if there will be room for her at our resort. Has anyone had this experience ?

If she is not on the room reservation, she cannot get a DME reservation. I don't think DME will budge.

just call and add her to your ressie so she can use DME from MCO to resort. When she moves the next day just have her check in at the next resort and book her DME back to MCO for her last day at that resort. I'm guessing she will be at a disney resort or am I reading your post wrong.
You cannot add her to DME at the airport. It's against MCO rules. You need to book her ahead of time.:goodvibes

Not sure what you are saying here.:confused3

I'm assuming that the problem is that they have the DDP.

Specifically you may not add her to your room in excess of the occupancy limit for a night and then have her stay with someone else for the rest of her vacation.

I want to clarify We are at Fort Wilderness in a cabin and her dad is at Pop Century checking in the day after we do. We are on room only and do not have dining, nor does her dad. When I called Disney reservation about this they told me not to add her to our reservation until we checked in, then only for one night. He said that when we got to the ME desk at the airport that they would call the resort and ask if there would be room for her in our cabin. Then they would OK her to ride ME with us.
I might still add her to ours and let Disney figure out why she is on two reservations.:rolleyes1: At least we will get to the Fort without a problem.:cool1:
Thanks all.:thanks:

I would just add her now. If you don't have the dining plan there's really no reason not too. Just don't even mention that she won't be staying with you the whole time - not because you're doing anything wrong, but just to keep from causing confusion.

This - if your not over occupancy or on a package then there will be no additional costs so add her now and she can use DME. Otherwise you will have to find alternate transportation.

Disney won't notice (or care) that she is listed on two room reservations and you could also just take her off if you wish after the first night.

Every person who wants to ride DME has to have a reservation. You can't just walk up to the desk and make a reservation.

Add her to your reservation, especially if it does't affect your room rate.

True! I posted on here before about an incident I saw at the DME podium a couple of years ago. I got stuck behind a family who was arguing about adding a little boy to their DME reservation at the last minute. Apparently they had decided at the last minute to bring along their son's friend and thought it wouldn't be a problem to just put him on the DME bus with them. Because he didn't have a voucher with his name on it, inside the DME booklet, and hadn't made a reservation for him prior to arriving at MCO, the DME CM at the podium said he couldn't get on the bus and there was no way around it. The dad made all of us wait, while someone higher up was called. The supervisor told them the same thing and suggested that they go over to the Mears desk and book a reservation with them and then one of the adults could ride with the kid on a Mears van and they could just meet up at the resort, but there was no way to get the kid on the DME bus. (Funny thing is, if you make a reservation with Mears for the Mears van, sometimes they will put someone on a DME bus instead--since they operate both.)

Please...listen to us. You must be listed on a WDW resort reservation in order to use DME. You can not add someone at the counter. I don't care what you were told by a person on the phone at Disney. He was wrong....and that happens all the time!!

Disney won't care that she is going to be on another reservation. I have been listed on two resort reservations before...never been an issue. They just don't care. Call today, add your grandchild to your reservation. Dad can take care of putting her on his DME reservation for the return ride.

Thank you, Thank you. I figured that nice young man might be wrong:headache: but wanted to ask my go to place for answers. :disrocks: Will add her today and call ME.
Thank You again. :thanks::thanks:

Just to update everyone and thank you. We called ME (after putting her on our resort reservation) 10 days before we were leaving and they went out of their way to get us a new ME booklet with my grand daughters info on it and sent us 3 new luggage tags. All of this arrived 3 days before we left viva UPS next day letter. ME gave us exceptional service. We have used ME every trip since 2005 and would recommend them highly. Thanks again Transportation Forum.:thanks:

So happy it all worked out for you. This is a great example of why we don't go around shooting pixie dust all over the place on the Transportation Board. If we did, you would have had people telling you...'Oh, go ahead, Disney wants you to be happy' or 'it will all work out, things will be sooo magical for you'.

So much better to get real, tested information here. That way people can be prepared and able to deal with situations rather than saying....'Weeellll, I was told, by a bunch of strangers on the internet, that I could do this!!!' That is so not a good thing!!!!!!
