Adding Free dining to an existing booking?

Hello everyone,

I am wanting to make a reservation for the art of animation resort for august 2013, at the moment I can only book a room as the packages for MYW are not available yet.

Does anyone know if I book a room and the free dining offer is then released if I could add the free dining to my vacation?

I plan to book 25 aug 2013 til 31 aug 2013 and it seems the free dining is often available during this period.

I would be interested if anyone has managed to do this or anyone who disney have not let do this as when I contacted disney about it they neither confirmed or told me no....very confusing ha

The problem you will have is that if your room reservation is not a package, it will have to be cancelled and rebooked as a package for you to add free dining.

You might as well wait until you can book a package. I don't see an overwhelming reason why you must book right now for August 2013, and even if there was a chance that AOA would fill up before the packages were ready for booking (and if it does fill up, there won't be any free dining there), you'd still have to cancel and rebook as a package.

Be VERY cautious if you are counting on free dining. If they release it next year, and it starts August 26, you'll be out of luck or you'll have to book two separate reservations.

The pp is correct that if you have a room only reservation and want a package later, the room only will have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit. I also wanted to add that if free dining does come out and you have a package booked, free dining can only be applied to your current reservation if there's availability under that promo at the resort you have booked. Having a reservation already in place does not guarantee that a discount can be applied. Also, as the pp mentioned, if you arrive prior to the start of free dining (if it's offered), you will need 2 separate reservations in order to take advantage of free dining as free dining cannot be applied if it starts after your check in date.

When does Disney generally release the following years package pricing?

Thank you for the advice! I think I will just wait to see if the free dining comes out. I aren't relying on the free dining I will be purchasing the DDP anyway if it isn't offered, I just don't want to buy it if disney are offering it for free
