adding DP with staying DVC

Does anyone know if you can add a dinning plan if you are staying in a DVC?

Yes, the owner has to add it for you. At the moment, the practice is that you pay for it at check-in at the resort (that might be changing in the future).

You do not have to purchase tickets to buy the DDP on a DVC reservation.

Our hopes are to transfer our RCI into DVC so we wouldn't be renting from an owner, do you know how this would work? We typically buy our tickets from SOG so that would be good if we didn't have to buy tickets through disney.

When you trade into DVC, you call the DVC member service number and add the dining plan through them. That $95 fee all traders must pay includes being able to use DVC member services just as a member would when making vacation plans.

ok thanks! That helps alot. We aren't going until Dec 2011, but b/c this is going to be an above and beyond trip, we are starting now to figure out how much we need to be saving up!

That is really good to know as we save a chunk by getting them at SOG vs at TTC. You can add the DDp at anytime after you make your ressie right, just as long as it's 48hrs in advance?

starting in the fall (or whenever Disney IT actually implements it ), you will have to pay for the dining plan in full when you add it through MS. But supposedly you will still be able to hold off adding it until 48hrs out if you want.
