Adding Disney Gift Cards to Onboard Account

I would like to add several Disney GC to my onboard account. I currently am checked in with CC on file. Is it possible to add these gift cards to be used first before charging my CC? TIA!!

Go to Guest Services when you arrive and add the gift cards at the beginning of your cruise. They won't charge your credit card until they have used up the gift card balance.

If you want to be courteous about it, consolidate the gift cards ahead of time so you can have 1 card with up to $1,000 on it instead of a stack of $25 gift cards, etc. (I was once stuck behind someone with about 15 small gift cards.....)

I couldn’t get it take my Disney Rewards card, but no problem with the gift cards this week (Thursday and Friday). I finally used the rewards dollars to purchase an e-card from ShopDisney. One less stop at Guest Services).

I went back to Disneygiftcard.com and my DGC (that I left on the sight because it had just a little money on it) was looking very funky: the dollar amount showed -:- Never seen that and the gift card number was only half there (not just the last four ****). Called the number on the back of the card and they said they would put a hold on it and to call back tomorrow (Wed). We'll see, what the heck happened. Definitely technical glitz.

I was going to suggest purchasing onboard credits with the GCs even before sailing. I called when I did this last time not knowing it can be done online. Thanks!

You are essentially buying OBC, just doing the transaction by phone instead of through the onboard gifts site.

Did you not get an email showing your purchase of OBC? Or maybe you only get that if you book through the site? I have one from when I purchased it, but I used the website to do so.

Yes, but why would you spend hours on hold with DCL when you can do it online?

So nice to know about this option to add credits before we go. I had one small GC I added this morning, no issues. Got my email confirmation. So then I went ahead and bought a larger Disney GC (email delivery instead of an actual card) through Target with my RedCard for my 5% discount. Was also able to add this one no problem and got the confirmation email.

Yes, this is great - I was dreading carrying around a $1000 gc (which I also got from Target with a discount).
