Normally we just book room only or use our DVC points but this trip is going to be a little different. We are going to WDW in May due to DH having a business related trip in Orlando so we are going to take advantage of a cheap vacation. We aren't using our points because DH's employer is giving him a nightly per diem for lodging. We got a great AP rate at AKL and I booked room only. We hadn't planned on doing the DDP because we did it twice last year (were able to get the DDP through DVC) and we always ended up leaving a CS credit or two unused and with the changes in the DDP it won't really be saving us any money. We'll spend about the same amount of money on the DDP as we will not on the DDP but on the DDP we might be more inclined to try some of the pricier entrees whereas if we are paying OOP we might skip that $30 steak and opt for the $20 chicken. :)

I had to call CRO this past weekend to change the primary name on the ressie and asked about adding the DDP - if we could add it at any time or even wait until we got to the resort to add it. We have our ADRs set and being on, or not being on, the DDP won't change those. The CM told me that we could indeed add the DDP at any time and even at check-in. Since we've never booked a package before I'm wondering if the CM I last spoke with was mistaken. My understanding is that if we have a CRO (room-only) ressie that in order to get a package we'd have to cancel the CRO ressie and rebook through WDTC and there are package cancellation penalties that would apply, as well as the deposit is $200 and you have to pay the vacation balance prior to arrival.

Anyone have any info on adding DDP at check-in or even just adding other package items at check-in? What are my chances of being able to add the DDP at check-in without a hassle? I guess the worst that can happen is that they say 'No' and we eat the chicken. :)

TIA

Hi

I just went through the process of taking my room only AP reservation and converting it to the DDP AP package.

I was told by CRO that I could not add the DDP at check-in. That since it was going from a room-only reserevation to a package reservation it had to be done 72 hours prior to my check-in date. Also, the package rules apply; Paid in full 45 days prior to check-in, cancellation policies, etc.

Hope this helps!

Thanks. Now here is another question... if we wait until 72 hrs. prior to check-in or even wait until the week before, our package won't be paid 45 days prior to check-in. And would we have to cancel our existing room ressie and then risk not getting that room again or possibly have to move resorts?

Sorry so many kooky questions but like I said before we have never done packages, it has always just been room only and just recently DVC through MS.

Thanks so much. :thumbsup2
