Adding an inexpensive dash of Disney magic?

How would you infuse a dash of Disney magic for three 15 year old girls? We will be in Orlando over MLK weekend without Disney park tickets. We are visiting Universal/ SeaWorld but I feel the need to sprinkle the kids with some pixie dust (on the cheap). I think a character meal would be way too expensive.

Maybe head to the Poly for Supper at Captain Cook's and Dole Whips from Pineapple Lanai for dessert? Not sure if non-resort guests can still watch Wishes from the beach, but it was possible last time I was there.

It depends on the girls. For us and DD, it would be too hard to go to a resort or Disney Springs and not enter a WDW park. We would be better off calling it a Universal trip and pretending it wasn't near WDW! If you really want to do something, but nothing expensive, you could go to Disney Springs (but in my experience with girls that involves much shopping which quickly gets expensive). You could take them to the mini golf course on Disney property. You could go to the Grand Floridian and watch the MK fireworks from the boat dock. You could go to a monorail resort and ride the monorail around a bit. Both of those are free things. For us, it would just be too hard to be that close and outside though!

You could always do dinner somewhere, there's tons of yummy places not inside the parks, that's what we always do if we're not going into the parks. Or as said, a Kitchen Sink at Beaches & Cream, that's been on my bucket list for awhile and I'm 19!

I agree to stay away from Disney. My first response was agreeing with the kitchen sink and then I read further. Old Town maybe? How about a dinner show?

Pizza from Disney's Boardwalk. There would be shopping, street entertainment, and the possibility of watching illuminations from Epcot. :)

For my oldest daughter's 16th birthday we took her and a friend to Disney Quest. Those two enjoyed the whole DTD, Disney Quest thing more than I could possibly imagine. They still talk about it and they are now 20! Maybe something like that would work. I bought a discount ticket site. I don't remember which one, but that might be an option for you.

Mini-golf at Winter Summerland? Disney themed - but not close to one of the theme parks to tempt them.......well, Blizzard Beach, but it's fairly well hidden behind the trees.

Or lunch at Sanaa? Not as expensive as a character meal, but then they can go to the viewing area and watch the animals. Depends on their palates I suppose...

Hayride at Fort Wilderness? Then watch the Disney movie and roast marshmallows after?

Um, just me, but does it have to be Disney? I mean, the teens I know would LOVE to be at Universal as well- could you do something at the 3 Broomsticks or the Leaky Cauldron? Or a fun lunch at Citywalk?

Have you thought about pick-a-pearl inside the Japan pavilion at Epcot? Each girl could pick her own oyster. There is a cute little ceremony when they open it up and see what kind of pearl each girl gets. To make it cheaper, you can get cage necklaces ahead of time and take them with you. That way, as soon as the pearl is discovered, each girl can put it in a necklace and have it to wear around the parks as well as when she gets home.

And Fantasia miniature golf over near the Swan. The Boardwalk area was going to be my suggestion as well since you can easily spend as little or as much time as you want just simply with a walk around the lake. You can get ice cream and candy at many places and just sit and enjoy the surroundings. Watch the boats and the people. You could even take the walk down to the Studios and the boat back or vice versa.

My suggestion was going to be the Chip and Dale Campfire, Sing A Long and Movie. It's free unless you plan to buy the Smore's kit

They are not going to the parks

Goofy's Candy Co. at Disney Springs has a make your own treat thing that I think is really neat. I plan to go there just to do that when I'm in Orlando next week. :)

I believe there's a place to do this, outside the parks. Maybe at the Beach Club?
Oh, there is for sure one at Beach Club. It's more like the stands all over Hawaii, not much like the experience at Japan.

Still a fun fill-in for girls of that age when you aren't hitting a park.

We've also done it at DTD at WDW and DLR.

Thanks for the great ideas! I plan to suggest some of these ideas to the girls and let them decide. Does anyone know what time Chip and Dale's Campfire starts?
