Adding an extra day of tickets Problem

I tried to add an extra day of tickets to my reservation and they charged me an extra $15 on top of the cost of one extra day of tickets for my family. They said because it was less than 14 days until our trip we would get charged a fee to change our tickets! The first CM I spoke to about a month ago told me you can add an extra day of tickets the day you arrive at your resort and there would be no charge only if you took away a day of tickets. Has anyone added an extra day of tickets less than 14 days out?

I have, in the park, for no extra fee.

Thank-you for the reply!:) That is what I thought. They said the would submit a complaint and someone would get back to me. I guess I should say something when I check-in if I have not heard back?

That seems like a silly rule when you are giving Disney more money. I would call back and speak to someone else.

Question: does anyone know, when you book your tickets in a package, and you get to the resort and want to add days, can you add days to just one persons ticket? Or does it have to be everyone? Can you do this at the hotel or does it have to be at a park gate?

I'm traveling with a friend of mine in April and she has 2 days left on an old non expired ticket, so I want to just add those extra days to my package ticket, she doesn't need them.

After you are at WDW you can treat each ticket differently and individually.

HOWEVER, you cannot add anything from or to a previously activated ticket.
Moreover, your friend is not allowed to give someone else her previously activated ticket to use. Transfer of tickets is against WDW policy.

Oh yes, I know she can't give hers away, I meant that I needed to add two days to my package ticket and she didn't because she already had them elsewhere.

Thank you for the help though, answering my question. :)

Since the first CM said you could do it the day you arrive, maybe that's where you went wrong. Perhaps the system defaults it to a change to the package if you do it before you activate your package. It kinda makes sense since it's a package deal. I would bring proof of the extra charge and see what they can do at checking or customer service once your checked in.

The $15 is a processing fee that is charged if you make any changes to a resort package within 2 weeks of your arrival date regardless of whether the change results in an increase or decrease in the total cost of the package. There is also a $50 change fee that is usually waived if the new total is more than previously. It looks like that fee was waived when you added a day to your tickets. You can check the T&C in your package paperwork.

You can add days to your tickets after you arrive at your resort and you will only be charged the cost of the additional day(s). Unfortunately once you are within 45 days of your arrival date there are penalties and fees related to changes (or cancellation) of packages.

Thank-you I will

Would I get the $15 back if I got rid of the extra day I added and than added it when I got there?

Thanks for the replies everyone! I live in Canada and every time I call I am on hold for ever! I think I will just pay the extra $15, it is still cheaper than 1 day tickets. It would probably cost me more to call back Disney and be on hold forever!:scared: I think my main frustration is not getting correct information from 2 different CM's. I took notes when I called inquiring about adding an extra day and I was told twice " You can add tickets by phone anytime prior to arriving or when you arrive and will not be charged extra unless you take away tickets." I just wish all the CM's were on the same page with information! We will still have a Great time so I won't worry about it!:):sunny:

I see what you were saying, now.

In this case, I want to make it clear that your friend will be "losing" about $180.00 by doing this.

The info gave to you was correct for tickets. You have a package and as such, different rules. When you got the answers from the other CM did they know you meant tickets in a package?

Yes, I gave them my reservation number and told them I had a package.

This really wasn't a hidden fee. The terms and conditions of your package vacation outline the additional charges that you will incur if you make changes to your package after 45 days. Once you arrive and activate your package you can upgrade any or all tickets..

I never said it was a hidden fee, I said I was repeatedly told that as long as I was adding a day of tickets, not taking one away, there would be no extra charge. Two different CM's told me it was okay to add a ticket at any time and I didn't have to wait until I got there. I read the conditions of my package that is why I called twice to confirm what I was told. I would have happily waited until I got there to add an extra day, but I just wanted it done. I was not told when booking the extra day about the extra charge, it was only when reviewing my bill that I noticed. Believe me I am very thorough and I read through all of my package conditions more than once and called twice with very specific questions. Oh well, live and learn! I am not mad, I was just frustrated that even with diligence in researching the matter 2 CM's were misinformed. No one is perfect!:) We will still have fun!!!!

OK. Gotcha. I can understand your frustration then. This is just one of the reasons I never do vacation packages.

I hope I didn't sound too grumpy in my reply to you, I am just frustrated with CM's not you. I know you were just trying to be helpful!:)
