Adding an additional person when you arrive at restaurant

We are arriving next Saturday 10/25  . I had an ADR that night at Chef Mickey's for 3 people (me, DH and DS). My in-laws decided that they're coming up a day earlier and would like to eat with us.

So, I called WDW Dining and was able to change my reservation to 4 people and the CM suggested that I talk to the concierge (we're staying at the Contemporary) or the restaurant when we arrive to see if I can add the 5th person as he said they can often do that. Also, we can just ask at the podium when we sign in for dinner.

Is this normally something that we can do? I would hate for my in-laws to drive over to the hotel (they are staying off-site) and not be able to eat with us. Do you think we will be easily accommodated?

Thanks!

Most people who have shared their experience in trying this have had successful results. Good luck and have a great vacation! :goodvibes

Thank you posting your question. We have a reservation for 8 at Ohana and now my niece wants to join us. They have nothing available and I was hoping on just bringing her along and they would allow it. Have a great trip.

I would be careful..... It depends on the size of your party. It is very easy to go from 3 to 4 people as they already are using a 4 person table anyway. Going from 4-5 is MUCH more difficult for the restaurant. Always easier to go from odd to even than the other way around. When you get to larger parties like the 8 to 9 of a PP if it is a big table they can usually cram 1 more around but it might be unconfortable.

Thank you for your response. I called and made this reservation at the 180 days. I asked the family like 3 months before then who would be joing us and they wait until now to say their daughter wants to come.

We were there last month and we were originally a party of 6 but my sister and her dh decided to join us so my travel agent said that she would change the adrs to 8 instead of 6; however, when we got there every restaurant still had us listed as a party of 6 but they ALL were able to seat our party of 8. I hope everything works out for you.

That's great to know Thank You. I will keep trying Ohana to add one but it's good to know it shouldn't be a problem
