We leave for wdw this week. Our POR starts Saturday. We are hoping to arrive in FL sometime Thursday- stay at the villages with dh grandma lol and head to Orlando Friday morning.

I had thought the kids may enjoy to stay at ASM for a night- id rather do a disney property just bc I at least will know its clean and I imagine the values are not more than any random Orlando hotel.

If I call and add it to my reservation will I have to pay for the room immediately or just upon arrival?

Also, will they transfer our luggage over to por riverside or will we need to do that. I know obviously we have to check into por sometime but was hoping to just go to the parks in the morning and check in at the end of the day.

Tia!

Not sure about the transferring of luggage but you will have to pay for the room. I have a package booked for 3 nights in December. We decided to stay in another room the night before our check-in. The system required me to pay for that room in its entirety. Wasn't a big deal since we are staying at AoA and now get to experience 2 different types of rooms - we are staying in LM for the first night since we get there late. We are switching to a LK suite for the remainder of our stay. I assume that for us they will hold our luggage and switch us. Not sure about between resorts though.

A room only reservation requires payment for one night at the time of booking. They will transfer your bags to your next resort for you- just arrange it will luggage services. It will be at your new resort sometime in the afternoon. If you already have your tickets (or AP), and won't be on the dining plan, then you wouldn't need to physically check in to your new resort until you were finished with your park touring for the day.

If you book ASM for that first night, you will need to pay that now as it would be a separate reservation from your POR ressie. If you have a room only reservation at POR and add that night to your POR reservation, the balance will be due at check in. If you currently have a package at POR and add the night, you will need to pay that now since you are less than 45 days from arrival.

Disney will transfer your luggage between the two resorts. All you would need to do it take your luggage to bell services the next morning and tell them you're transferring to POR and they will take care of getting your luggage to that resort. You can check in at POR anytime, but keep in mind that your luggage probably won't get there until around 1-3 pm, so make sure you keep what you might need during the day with you instead of packing it in your luggage. Have a great trip :goodvibes.

Thanks guys - always so helpful here on the Dis!

Definitely going to do an all stars as opposed to a random Orlando hotel for the added night- the transferring of luggage make it worth the while - not having to check out then check in to a new place before our park day yay!

Thanks again!!
