Adding a day to a reservation

I booked an 8 day stay at Portofino a few weeks ago for this July\August. We are first time Universal visitors. Over the past week my wife and I discussed adding a day to the end of the trip just to hang out, visit other things in the area, and just extend our trip before heading down to Clearwater for a week.

I can't seem to find a way to do that on the web site as I can with our Disney trips. Is this something you have to call for? Also, does anyone know if they will keep the same room rate as the rest of the trip even if the price has changed? When we booked, we got a fantastic deal, 20% off for booking 7 nights or something.

If you look at your hotel confirmation email, there should be an option to cancel or modify your reservation.

I called and a very nice gentleman help me. The number was at the bottom of the confirmation email.

Thanks all. I think I have to call them to add a day. When I use the modify my reservation link from the booking, it seems to let me make some changes, like book extras etc., but not add days to the trip.

I was able to add a day online and it was really easy. I also modified the room type I was in when I saw a deal. Did you book directly with the hotel or through Universal.

I booked through the universal site.

One thing I discovered last year was that if I booked with a special rate, it wouldn't let me add a day unless that rate was still available for the whole stay. So for example, if I was staying 3 days on an AP rate, and the 4th day was available standalone with an AP rate, but not a new 4 day stay for those dates, I couldn't add the extra day online. Was able to do it by calling though.
