Adding 2 at 'Ohana - problem??

My mom and dad have decided to come with on our May trip. I have been able to add them to all of our ADRs except 'Ohana. What are the chances we can add them with our current reservation of 4? Should I cancel or just keep checking back? I have never been to 'Ohana and am most excited about this than any other reservation, so I hate to cancel.

There's always a MOB waiting for 'Ohana so I would say it would be best to keep searching for a new ADR for 6 people (don't cancel your old one until you find a new one.)

It's not a matter of pulling up a couple extra chairs, it's a matter of restaurant capacity and fire codes. And since 'Ohana is frequently packed, I would say it's going to be tough to show up with extra people and get seated.

Good luck! If all else fails, you can show up with your extra people but have a backup plan just in case. Would you all leave if turned away or would 4 eat there and 2 eat elsewhere? It's good to know ahead of time.

Edited to add: Kona Cafe is right next door. You can probably get an ADR there for two people around the same time as your 'Ohana ADR. That way if 'Ohana can't handle your party of 6, then two of you will have somewhere nearby to eat.

I agree with this.

Your chance of walking up and adding 2 people to your ressie will be all but a miracle occurance at Ohana.

You can try, but do have a back up plan for them. Either a ressie at Kona or explain they may want to eat CS....or not try at all and go somewhere else entirely.

We have done it multiple times without a problem. I'd keep looking but I would definitely try if you don't find something.

We were able to add 2 more people during Free Dining. We checked in about 15 min before our ADR and asked if they could make it a table for 8. I was given a pager and we were seated about 15-20 min later.

Keep trying for a larger table. If you can't get one, see about booking a table for 2 at Kona-just in case they won't seat everyone. Don't forget to cancel if they are able to seat everyone at 'Ohana.

My parents walked up to the podium at Ohana without an ADR the week of Veteran's Day and were given a table in 20 minutes. It certainly can't hurt to try to get them in with you. I agree with being flexible or having a back-up plan.

Can't hurt to try, but be prepared to either have them go elsewhere or have everyone go elsewhere.
