Added the DDP - surprised how little it actually costs

I just decided to add the regular ddp to our 7 night stay. I was expecting it to be a lot more than $1400 for 3 adults / 1 child. This adds up to $50 per person per day. That is very reasonable for food on vacation imo. One single steak and drink could make it pay for itself, it seems.

I just reminded myself I still have the gratuity to pay, though!

Are you sure about that? The adult plan is $64/night, so for 3 adults for 7 nights, that's right at $1400 without the child.

how old is your kiddo? if under 3 they are not getting charged for.

Also most of the $50 steaks are at 2TS restaurants requiring 2 of your credits.

Agree that the prices I've seen in the past for the DDP have been significantly higher.

Maybe they're suddenly lowering the price? I'm up for that.

Or maybe this was an accidental pricing out of the counter service dining plan?

I think there is just some rounding going on here... also maybe it is a DVC room and using last year's prices. and then dividing the total by the number of people - the kiddo would bring the average of the adults down but then of course the kiddo's portion would be artificially high.

Maybe it's an under age 3 child. We used the DDP two and a half years ago, and even then it was well over $60 per person per day.

I know. I don't understand how it ended up being only an additional $1445.36 to add the regular ddp. The package, 7 nights, myw, 3 adults one child (7) is $2740. I even asked the rep if it was a mistake and she said no.

Here is what my reservation states (I paid for an adult park ticket for my 12 year old and they do have her age). Is it possible they gave her the child's dining plan?

that's right. it is around $61pp for adults and $21 for kiddos (plus change on all of those).

That is about right, then. I thought you were going in 2017. LisaF is correct. The adults are close to $62 and the kids at $21 for 2016. Those amounts do add up to the $1445 you were given. And that is just a little over $50/night/pp.

Thanks everyone for the input! So glad it wasn't a mistake!

it's not a mistake but you are bringing down the pp average by averaging in the kid price. I travel solo with my kiddo and if i did regular ddp it would be $41.50/person on average but really what I can buy with the kid's credits is much less than mine. I am doing dxddp for more like $144 a day for both of us, lol
