of new phrases in our everyday vocabulary due to the election.

Joe the Plumber
Joe Six Pack
Hockey Mom
That One
Maverick...................

I hadn't been following the "Joe the Plumber" routine in the media so I'm glad I finally saw what happened and why the "spread the wealth" talking point was being hammered. I only have this to say to McCain:

If you think most Americans can relate to "Joe the Plumber", you're dead wrong, McSame. Most Americans aren't in the position where we can afford to buy a business that nets over a quarter of a million dollars a year. Most Americans fall under the category of employee, not employer.

Further, if what's stopping "Joe the Plumber" from realizing his "American Dream" is a Presidential candidate's view on taxes, then what most Americans are seeing is another American who's looking for a scapegoat for his own failures. If you have a dream to own a business and you have the capital and moxie to actually start one, the only one stopping you from realizing that dream is you.

I believe most Americans have nothing in common with "Joe the Plumber" and can't relate to his tax situation. But I do believe most Americans were insulted by "John the Candidate" in his disregard for women's health. I was shocked, then disgusted, when he did the air quote thing around the words "health of the mother".

Yeah, John really cares about the issues that are most important to American men and women alright.

I wish I was in "Joe's" position financially BUT that doesn't mean I think Joe should have to take his hard earned money.... make no mistake, he has worked HARD to get his business in that position... and give it to someone else who makes less. WHY SHOULD ANYONE WORK HARD AND NOT BE ABLE TO REAP THE BENEFITS???

{insert big sigh here} This is running :offtopic:

I was hoping for a list of new terms/phrases that came into being because of the election. There are many other threads that debate the issues where you can post opinions, and I didn't mean for this thread to become another debate thread.

I'm kind of a laungage geek. It's interesting to me to see new sayings evolve into everyday language and was hoping that someone can add to the list I started of 2008 election terms that have been woven into our everyday conversations.
