if i want to add more points to my contract w/ the same UY, do I need to add to my existing contract?

Part A:
Or can I do a new contract w/ the same UY for an additional 50 pnts (assuming I bought direct from Disney).

Logic, better to have multiple contracts with same UY... so you can divide it up in the future if needed (to kids, family members, etc... or sell).

My understanding is that if I consolidate into one big contract, then i can't divide up the points in the future...

Does anybody else own multiple contracts to the SAME resort with the same UY (i.e. not consolidated).

Part B:
Can I make a reservation using all of the points together at the 11 month window? (points from all contracts combined).

Thank you

If you do an add-on from Disney of 50 points, it will be a different contract from your original one, but it will have your same use year. If you want a different use year, you have to add-on a minimum of 150 points just like a new purchase. Even though the 50 point add-on at your home resort would be treated like the original contract, it would be available to dispose of seperately should you chose to do that some day.

If you are purchasing additional points from Disney, you can add on as few as 25 points if you pay cash. If you want to finance, the minimum is 50 points. The points can be at any resort, not just at your current "home" resort. If you purchase fewer than 150 points, they must be the same Use Year. The points will be in a separate contract that can be sold separately. The contract number will be the same as your master contract number but with an ".001" extension.

The points can be combined when making reservations, at 11 months if they are at the same resort as your master contract or at 7 months if your add-on points are at a different resort than your master contract.

Your points are combined for the purposes of banking percentages. Example: you have 150 points at Resort A and add on 50 points at Resort B, so you own a total of 200 points. At your 50% banking deadline you can bank up to 100 points across both the master and add-on contract points. Those 100 points can be any combination from your two contracts. You could opt to bank all 50 Resort B points and 50 Resort A points. Or you could bank 100 Resort A points and no Resort B points. The same applies at the 25% banking window: assuming you had not banked any points prior to that time, you could bank all 50 Resort B points (which is 100% of the points in the add-on contract) because those 50 points are 25% of your total points.

Very helpful... thank you both for you comments.

LisaS, the info on banking was GREAT, never even thought to ask (very insightful)

Cheers

Quick question then - if you have two master contracts with different UY can those points be combined at the 7 month mark for reservations?

IE If I were to have a HH april contract and made studio reservation for June 2007 at the 11 month mark (August 2006) and I had an OKW Sept contract could I use the OKW points to upgrade the June reservation to a 1 bedroom in Dec 2006?

Thanks!

Yes, if it's available, but that could be tough to get.
