I haven't even closed yet but am aware that the SSR promo is ending on Jan. 20th. DH got a postcard for triple miles using Amex.

So, can we add on at SSR 50 points at the $86 referral rate? That is after we close before the 20th we hope. Or is it just for new purchases? DH would kill me if I also bought SSR at 150! I can't even think that way...can I???

Can we add on for $86 at SSR only 50 points?

Thanks friends, I must have the disorder...add on itis~! :rotfl:

For new members who purchase through Disney, the minimum points is 150. Once you are in DVC (regardless if it is resale or through Disney directly), members can purchase 25 points minimum for cash purchases or 50 points for financed purchases.

With respect to this current SSR promo, present DVC members can receive the $86 promo rate if they purchase a minimum of 125 points. A present DVC member can still purchase less than 125 points at SSR, but it will be at the $101 rate.

Newcomers to DVC (those not a member already) need a member referral and the minumum number of SSR points is 150.

So, to the OP, you cannot add onto SSR for 50 points at the $86 per point promo rate. As a DVC member under this promo, you need to buy at least 125 points to get that rate. As a DVC member, you can purchase less than 125 points at SSR, but it will be at the $101 rate.

This is my understanding of it. If I got something wrong, I defer to the more senior DVC members on the boards.

Hope it helps.

I just received a post card from DVC and it is 115 or more points for the Anniversary offering ($86 per point - Current DVC Member). Friends and family still need to purchase 150 points to join DVC and they will get the $86 promotion.

So adding on points through Disney financing would require how much on a 125 point add on?

if you mean how much money up front it's 10% down.

125 points * $101 =$12,625 = down payment of $1262.50

Disney would then give you the $15 discount as an additional down payment

$15 * 125 = $1,875

total down payment = $3,137.5

total financed = $9,487.50

To get the F&F deal you only have to add-on 115 points.

hope that's what you were looking for :goodvibes

If I'm not mistaken, existing DVC members who want to purchase less than 115 point will receive a discount of $10 per point for a net cost of $91 per point.

April....

When you buy through Disney...If you haven't closed yet....you CAN add on 50 pts. at the incentive price ....don't know about thru TSS?? Call Disney!!

Seneca,

Thanks for the info, I didn't know that I could add on 50 more points which is exactly what we need. Just a few more so that we can always stay in 1 br over a studio. I like the full kitchen.

Again, Disney did the marketing perfect when they upgraded us on our very first trip to a 1 br at OKW. I don't know if they randomly picked out people and do profiles, but here we are days away from closing.

At this point I might just bring the checks with me and ask TSS to come to SSR and pick up the checks. Is that rude?

I doubt that they would have time for that. You could bring it to the resort and drop it in the mail and they would probably get it the next day.

Senecabeach- I might not be understanding you correctly but the 91$ incentive if they HAVE closed is the only deal they could get for only buying 50 more points. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

LOL! Warning - it is addictive!

You could mail down a check now, and it would be there before you arrive. If you don't want it cashed right away, post date it,and put a sticky on it to hold until xxxx date.

Are you getting excited about your trip.

ALso, you could schedule a tour at SSR, and they may be able to help you out then and there. Also, I bet TSS would help you out as well.

Enjoy!

Happy New Year, Goldi

Isn't your trip still a week and a half away? Waiting to send in your payment is just holding up your closing at this point. If you are as anxious to become a member as you sound in your posts, I would Fed Ex everything to the closing company ASAP. It will cost you $30 or so for overnight delivery but that's a drop in the bucket compared to size of the check you are sending! And you probably have a very anxious seller at this point, wondering why it's taking so long to close.

When I purchased my resale contract, I received the final paperwork on a Friday afternoon and sent it back overnight delivery on Monday (had to wait for DH to come back from a business trip to sign the final papers). The closing company received our paperwork on Tuesday morning. Fortunately the seller was equally prompt with her paperwork and we closed the following day! Unfortunately Disney took nine days to get us into the system but once that wait was over I was finally able to make my first reservations.

Good luck!

She's buying through TSS, not Disney, so she won't be able to add on until she is in Disney's system, about 10 days after her closing. Once she's a member, she can add on at SSR but won't qualify for the $86/pt incentive unless she buys a minimum of 115 points. List price at SSR is $101/pt, but as Pennyguy23 says, she might get a discount of $10/pt off that price bringing it down to $91/pt. If that's they case, she could consider just adding on at OKW at $92/pt so that she has all of her points at one resort, available for use at the 11-month window.
