In general, unless they are running some fantastic promotion, it is fiscally more sound to buy on the resale market.

IMO, it depends. if you're buying a larger, 100+ pt contract, it is true that resale is (almost always) cheaper. but for smaller contracts, especially if you're looking at adding 25-50 pts, direct through disney is often cheaper due to the lack of closing costs. but do the math to be certain...
