If we wanted to add on in increments of 25 points every year for the next couple of years as we have extra cash how does this work?
DVC only allows add ons of 25 points to your own home resort? How do they handle use years?
Add ons have to be the same as your current use year, correct?
Use years become sold out? What happens if your use year is sold out, but other use years are available?
Do they just put you on a wait list then?
How does DVC get more points then? From buying out resales?
Do you think we'll have any problems adding on to BCV next couple years?
Thanks!

You won't have a problem adding on at least for a while but I doubt that you will be able to for two years. After the BCV officially sell out, the only way for DVC to get more points is to buy back re-sale contrats. At that point if you wanted to add on more points through Disney, you would have to buy the property they are selling at the time. That will be Saratoga Springs. You will still be able to buy 25 points there, even if it isn't your master contract.

Basically, just let your guide know that you want to add-on in the future. Twenty-five points is the minimum amount of points you can add-on through Disney. Your add-on points will be for the same use year unless you "add-on" 150 points, which is basically a new contract, in which case you can choose another use year if you prefer. If your use year is sold out, then you can ask to be placed on a waiting list like some members are already on for sold out resorts like OKW and HH. Also, you can always buy BCV resale points once they actively start to come on the market (I've already seen a couple on the resale sites).

Actually you can add on with a minimum of 25 points at any resort DVC is currently selling, BUT you HAVE to add on with the same use year as your current contract. So, if they are selling some extra BWV points (as they are now), but are sold out of your use year, you can't add on there.

If your use year is sold out, you have the option of "adding on" 150 points under another use year, if available. At 150 points it's considered a new contract, so they don't care what use year you choose. If you don't want to do that, you can wait list. How long that takes and whether it comes through depends on several factors: your use year demand, how many are on the list above you, how many contracts DVC buys back, etc. There were people on the wait list just a couple of years ago for September BWV for over a year before points became available.

DVC gets points from resale buy-backs or reallocation of resort space (such as the current BWV availability). It's hard to say how easy BCV will be to add on in the near future. Past experience dictates that it may be tough once the resort sells out as few people will sell so soon after buying. It usually takes a few years for resale contracts to become readily available, and only a small percentage are purchased back. You may want to watch the resale market, although small contracts don't often become available.

Just one other bit of info for you... There is a minimum of 25 points for an add-on through DVC, but you can't finance unless you add on 50 points. Anything less than 50 is cash only. Magical beginnings doesn't kick in until 100 points, but that is subject to change and may not always be available.

The 25 points add on at your home resort only was a fairly short lived rule that many think is still the rule. The main issue I see is that you will have what are technically separate contracts so if you ever decided to sell they would all be separate and the closing costs significantly higher. I'd say decide what you want and need, then save for it and pay cash. You could always borrow now and replenish when you do buy.
