Add-On or New Membership?

We currently have 250 point at BWV with a Feb use year. We bought in 1999 and are always borrowed 1 full year out. We've just had our first child and want more and have decided we want/need more points. We typically go in March/April and then over Christmas, and would like to get one bedroom villas so the seasons and the room size kinds of eats our points up in a hurry. My question is this: should we try and get another 150 at BWV or buy a new membership at SS? The advantage to BWV is that all of our points will be at the same resort and not make the reservation windows messy. The advantage of SS is that we get use of the points for additional years even though we don't plan to stay at SS (we stay at BWV and VWL). We're 30 years old now, so we plan to be able to use our points for some time.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

I think you shoud stick with the BWV's, especially since you don't really want to stay at SSR. As your child gets older and into school, you will be reserving the busier WDW times around school vacations and in that case having the 11 month window where you want to stay will be a major plus.

You should call your Guide. DVC may have February BWV available.

I talked to our guide who told me that I can be put on a waiting list and would almost certaily get the points I want in our use-year. Apparently DVC monitors sales of points quite closely and grabs up points very quickly for people who are wait-listed.

I would think that BWV or VWL would probably best suite your needs. Sticking with BWV would probably be easier to manage, especially since you tend to stay there or VWL. Otherwise you might get caught in a situation where you only have enough points to book part of your stay at BWV and then might have to switch resorts mid-stay. Many people don't mind, but others find it to be a pain.

We own at the BWV's and added on a couple of weeks ago. Called on Guide on a Tuesday and had the points in our account by Friday. They had them available right then and there. NO wait necessary. Good luck.

We just added on at the Boardwalk and got our points right away no waiting.
Points were in our account the next day to use. That was 2 weeks ago.
