Just got the word DVC waived ROFR of a 30 point contract at BCV. Purchased at $81 since I know some of you will want to learn the price. Total time from purchase to notice of DVC wavier - 4 weeks. Very nice job by the Timeshare Store.

Hey is there a 300 point owners club?? With college coming up in a year, there is no way we will ever get to 1000 points.

PS: just to scare the heck out of you facing college - during our visits to colleges in NC last week, Duke indicated that for our son who is a Junior this year, cost at Duke is projected to be $63K for his freshman year. And no financial support unless he was 6 inches taller and great at basketball. Guess he will not be a Blue Devil.

You will need that extra time at Disney to take your mind off of the college tuition. But remember, you will only be paying for his college for 6 years.

That is why both of my girls have and are going to a local community college for the first few years. They chose colleges that have special associate programs in the area they are most interested in. They are also living at home while going. Total cost for tuition and books - less than 2K a year... and they still get a fantastic education.

Congratulations on your BCV add-on. I have a couple of small BCV contracts and they are worth their weight in gold to me. We absolutely love BCV.

My son is now 7 -- I can only imagine what tuition costs are going to be in about 10 years.

The smaller the better as far as contracts go. They are worth so much more per point than the larger ones, Wish I knew that when we bought our first large contract.

Re your son, you will find a way - start saving absolutely as much as you can - at least $6K - $10K per year. Many are going to community colleges for the first two years and saving most of the cost of a large school for the first two years. So just make sure he studies a lot cause the SAT / ACT scores are critical for a good school (Duke indicated about 30% of the freshman class had perfect 800 SAT scores in math) -or bribe the school with a large donation. . Of course the state schools are a lot less for the moment. Then again, the other cheap way to get in is to get him to become great at a sport so that the Division I coaches will want him and he will get a free ride. You chance of this are about 1 in 1000.

One funny comment. Until this year the largest number of references Duke had received for any one kid was about 32. They generally ask for only one. This year a kid submitted his application with 70+ references all the way down to kindergarten. I believe he did not get in.
